Serious question I see fans say all the time that Canelo would never fight this guy or that guy and I’m honestly confused as to why ppl have this opinion? When Canelo was at 154 the only guy fighting the other top fighters was Canelo, at 160 again the only guy fighting top guys was Canelo. It took a miracle for GGG to actually face danny Jacobs and guys like Charlo flat out ducked. Ggg and Andrade also ducked Lara but Canelo scared to fight tough comp.. Benavidez and plant was supposed to fight in 2019 both these guys are career 168 fighter yet they really just had they first legitimate elite opponent at the weight Canelo moved up and unified in a year… look at 175 Kovalev, Bivol, and Bertibev all won titles around the same month in 2017 none of those guys have fought each other but Canelo has fought 2/3 and he not even a LHW.. how is it that Canelo is a duck if he doesn’t fight everybody but these guys don’t have to fight nobody? And why are these guys allowed to sit around and wait for Canelo but get passes not to fight anybody else?

He waited til GGG was aged and less sharper, vacated to avoid him in his prime, had lots of tainted beef (but im sure nigh on all fighters are having their share too so it is what it is) and jumped up a few weights.
But at this point, nobody can say that he's scared to fight anyone. Fighting Bivol proved that. He is the face of boxing and tbh nobody beats him outside of Bivol and Beterbiev.

the waiting on GGG to age thing is overblown GGG could have gotten the fight earlier if he lived up to his 154-68 claims also it doesn’t really make sense that Canelo who was 154 at the time was a duck for not immediately moving up when GGG said 154-68 and has still never moved up.

Canelo literally vacated his WBC 160lb crown in 2015 i think it was to avoid GGG who was mandatory and although ageing, still in his prime. He ended up fighting him towards the end of 2017 and it was not an easy night.

    A little more context:

"After much consideration, today, I instructed my team at Golden Boy Promotions to continue negotiating a fight with Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin and to finalize a deal as quickly as possible. I also informed the WBC that I will vacate its title. For the entirety of my career, I have taken the fights that no one wanted because I fear no man. Never has that been more true than today. I will fight 'GGG,' and I will beat 'GGG' but I will not be forced into the ring by artificial deadlines. I am hopeful that by putting aside this ticking clock, the two teams can now negotiate this fight, and 'GGG' and I can get in the ring as soon as possible and give the fans the fight they want to see."

    What?
For starters he's a designer roider, which means he's scared to fight natural and wants a massive edge.
He literally ducked Golovkin saying he wasn't ready at MW yet (despite coming in the ring the same size or bigger) and having the title.
He then aged Golovkin twice to get more advantage.
He put a hydration clause on Fielding, Jacobs, Kovalev and tried it on Smith (meaning he was scared to fight them without compromising them).
He also fought Kovalev without allowing proper time for him to recover from the Yarde fight (which according to Kovalev was the reason they were offered the fight, in other words it had to happen then or forget it).
He talked about fighting Beterbiev but then fought the smallest and lightest hitting 175 champ in Bivol, who is basically a 168 fighter. The reason I can say he is basically a 168 fighter is that he has offered to come down there various times.

Canelo won't fight unless he has an unfair advantage, which is the very opposite of being brave.

That's not really context, because the fight happened over 2 years after GGG was first made mandatory. This is just Canelo talking.

cause most are emotional fanboys. they remind me of ex girlfriends commenting on the current girlfriend. how ugly she is and how she dont know how to dress. they come across just as believable. sour grapes makes em say some ridiculous things.

The fight didn't take place originally because of the purse split, when that fell through they both went their separate ways.

The rematch almost fell apart for the same reason.

No it was because Canelo didn't want to work with the deadline set

Most of the people who say that about any fighter never stepped into a ring themselves so.....

If people think Canelo is scared to fight anyone then they need to stop eating crayons and licking windows.

To be honest its racial. Blacks dont like Canelo because he's Mexican/white. Mexicans dont like Canelo because he's Irish Mexican.

In terms of resume and difficulty of competition Canelo stands alone and its not close. The other best fighters who've actively fought best available competition are Inoue and Usyk. Jermell is doing a great job also, the lone PBC standout. A case could he made for Crawford but his WW run has been awful although it miggt be a result of refusal frrom PBC especially considering all their fighters (except Jermell) avoid best competition including Spence, Thurman, and Danny Garcia as well as Jermall and Deontay. Obviously you can include Tank who is busy fighting Barrios at 140 (but needs 136 w/ rehydration clause for RyGa - who is really a fringe top LW), LSC up in weight, Romero, and anyone not named Loma, Haney, Shakur, or Teo.

Nonetheless blacks big up Spence, Tank, and Deontay and regurgitate Deontays crazy accusations. Europeans/Whites obsess over Usyk and Loma and Japan rightfully praises Inoue. It's really only Crawford who gets little appraisal from his "own people" because he's not black enough or something...as if being black meant you need to fit a stereotype/profile. Canelo gets worldwide acclaim from a diverse fanbase but some of his own Mexican fans dont accept him...hell the Cartel kidnapped his brother and extorted millions from him

While boxing has always been tribal, I don't believe the animus Canelo generates is principally rooted in race.

I do, however, believe that there were some Mexicans who were initially reluctant to embrace Canelo because, unlike most of Mexico's past greats, his heritage is very clearly European and not mestizo or indigenous.

(His brother's nickname, for example, was El Español or "the Spaniard").

Some fans are just very obnoxious.

If he's not scared, he's hand picking, if he's not hand picking then it's his fault the boxing organisation have placed fighters like Yildirim as his mandatory and so on.

Fought Floyd when he still had a lot left, fought both Smith brothers in or around their prime, ok he fought a fairly washed Kovalev but you can't exactly blame Canelo for not stepping up to LHW 5 years before, still fought a very good durable Danny Jacobs who'd just won 3 in a row......fought Plant & BJS both in their primes.

Some people just aren't happy whatever they do.
