This guy is a damn joke. He is supposed to be #2 right behind Floyd and Paul Smith is the BEST he could come up with? A guy on a 2 fight losing skid that has never even been good enough to be a journeyman?

The guy hasn't beaten anyone I have even heard of FFS. The only guys he has fought that I have even heard of blew him straight out.

When Floyd came back from a layoff he fought a P4P fighter (yes at a catchweight, but still an elite fighter) Ward can't accept that he is the B side to every fight that is ever mentioned with his name. Carl Froch is not as good of a fighter as Ward right now, BUT, Froch is a bigger draw. Ward pretends like he was ok with going to Wembley, but Nottingham was a deal breaker? F*ck off and be the B side. Didn't hear him complain when his fights happened in Oakland. In a just world Paul Smith would KO this moron and then he would have to take more chances. His resume isn't that great either btw.

Not everyone can be as great as Floyd.

Tune up fight. Ward is too good and too small of a draw for any top fighter to be interested in fighting him in a comeback fight anyway.

Ward's ego got in the way. He should have swallowed his pride and agreed to fight wherever Carl wanted since he is the clear B-side. But he would beat Carl again.

He should of accepted the fight Carl was willing to take the fight..........ward said he wouldn't fight ward in Nottingham but froch fought ward at his place...........

what was crazy was it would of been a great fight for ward to get back at the spotlight froch was coming of a monster win against groves

Eh, Froch fought Ward in Jersey not Oakland. Nottingham is Froch's Oakland equivalent. But yes Andre should have swallowed his pride and accepted the fight because he beats Carl no matter where the fight takes place. But I certainly don't think he was "ducking" Carl because he thought he would lose.

    I don't agree here Ducklerr.

If I was a pro boxer and I beat someone the first time, I sure as hell ain't gonna give him concessions in the negotiations.

    No way.

It should AT LEAST be 50-50, if not more for Ward.

Froch is the one who ultimately needs the rematch for his legacy. Ward can do without.

Ward is still in his prime (30 years of age) and has many years to go. Who knows? Maybe he'll be a top draw in the future.

That's just me of course. It's called pride.

I see a lot of you saying "tune up"... So it's ok for someone who is supposed to be a top 5 talent wise to take a "tune up" against a D level opponent, and also fight him at a catchweight, despite the fact Ward is a one or 2 fight a year fighter since 2009?

Ridiculous. This guy is WORSE than Rodriguez, and at least Ward was coming off injury.

Yep, Andre's ego has held back his career at times. I get it, he's in a similar position that B Hop once was. Incredibly good and everyone acknowledges it but no one wants to watch him and guys he's beaten are getting fights for 10 times his career high payday and are still the A-side against him.

His resume is far better than Kovalev's, GGG's. Not that great?

Not that great for the past 2 years but it's a top 5 resume in the game atm.

Smith is actually a b level, he's very good.

Ward SHOULD of took the fight it made sence for him since he thinks he would win how is it bad situation for him?

Sky would of held rights to the fight and Ward would of got paid nicely he is even lucky froch offered the fight to him now he is fighting smith for peanuts

HBO don't even want to air wards fights and for good reason
