Can anybody give an educated analysis on Hagler vs Monzon?

It comes down to this...****, this is a hard choice.

Hagler, with the understanding that there's an equally good chance I'd lose $500.

So you'd slightly favour Hagler being the one to draw Monzon in more than allow Monzon to control the distance and put Hagler at the tactical disadvantage?

That's a heavy possibility. Like I said, if you want the definition of a 'pick em', this is it.

A draw might even be the wisest pick, as the judges could be split.

EDIT: I'd bet 500$ on my pick of Monzon without being forced and would be feeling okay about it. Reasonable analysis dictates that it's got draw written all over of it or an either way fight, but I have a feeling that Monzon would edge it for a close but clear battle.

Yes, I feel Hagler's movement would be the key in successfully being able to achieve this feat. The counterpunching and quicker jab being the keys to getting the better of a come-forward Monzon. Monzon would no doubt dictate the distance and force Hagler to come to him in other rounds, so it's definitely a toss-up. You're right about a draw being a very real possibility here.
