Can't see it. Most fights at Featherweight with World class fighters can't be made anyway- he and Donaire share trainers, Mares is with Golden Boy and John rarely leaves Asia- all of those guys I think he beats anyway. If Garcia could make it down to 126 still, I wouldn't mind seeing a Rigondeaux fight but I just feel Rigondeaux is too small. At 130, there isn't a great deal- if Gamboa stepped down I would guess Garcia beats him easy. There Uchiyama who is a class fighter but I'd still favour Garcia to beat him. Even at 135, now Broner has left, you have Abril, Burns, Vazquez, Crawford, DeMarco...if push came to shove I would pick Garcia to beat all those guys. So to answer your question...no I can't see him being beat anytime soon.
Uchiyama is basically the only guy with a realistic chance imho. That would be 50/50. Uchiyama has evil power and he's perfecting his craft with each fight. Argenis Mendez is a wild card shot as well. He has his flaws but his win over the world class Salgado was an eye opener. If Mendez could duplicate that kind of focus against Garcia, it would be interesting.
You really think 50/50 or was it a figure of speech and you lean toward Garcia 60/40, or something, out of interest :think
Gary Russell jr. Has the tools. But he really needs to step up so he can be in a big collision cousre with Garcia. That fight can be really big if Gary proves he is an elite.
Well he was prospect of the year in 2011 and has pretty much stood still. The standard of his opposition hasn't improved in about 2 year
:conf Well I doubt he will go there for a good few years but he's only 25 so it's possible. Obviously there are guys at 140 that would beat him now.
Right. But he is still young and strong. Its not like he is quickly falling out of his prime. Im a Garcia fan but his best wins are guys who are really easy to hit. Will be interesting to see how he deals with someone with good athleticism combined with power and boxing skills.
True although, Gary Russell Jr is only a few months younger than Garcia. Fight won't happen due to the Golden Boy Top Rank gulf war unfortunately. :-(
I love how everyone over-hypes a fighter after a fight like that- Garcia will then get rocked in a future fight- and then we'll get 30 threads about how he's overrated. Good fighter, but Jesus, calm down.
In fairness I think it was Roman Martinez calling him out and Max Kellerman mentioned he was in attendance.
Garcia is looking like fighter of the year, one or two more fights (two more I think because he only took 23-5 shots the whole fight!!!) this year and possibly a title should make him a sure bet
