So would I. But just because I pick Robinson to win does not mean he would do.

I'm shocked no one has mentioned Burley.

    Honeyghan:rofl

Napoles would get beaten handily as well. Not enough physical ability at this weight, too small in height\reach, maybe not quite enough power to really get Robinson's respect.

That reflexive defence and love of always being at the right mid-range distance to be just within punching range would doom him as well...the guy generally disdained even a token effort at blocking\glove\arm defensive work and simpler defensive techniques are something i feel any fighter will need to fall back on at times against a prime Robinson. This elaborate highly tuned boxer-puncher style while being smaller, less physically able and less of a puncher is just not going to work.Just too much of a physical tools disparity, we're taking similar to something like Ray Leonard vs Kalule in that respect.

Then you add in there being a good chance he'll have blood hampering his vision at some stage and while he had a great chin i'm not so sure he could just take flush shots from Ray all fight while being in range(as his style and mentality dictates he will) and possibly struggling to see some punches coming after getting cut.

I think it would end up looking somewhat like Duran vs Dejesus 2 in feel at least, where it starts of viciously competitive and napoles is slowly broken down and it becomes less competitive as it goes on.Though with his stylistic disinterest in using his great footwork to go into a perimeter mover mode(or just never quite having the legs needed for that at 147)and inclination to stand and counter back it would be a brutal fight once Robinson starts to take over.

If Napoles was as physically gifted as a prime Robinson he could be a good pick, as i think he's an even better boxer-puncher in some technical aspects, but he isn't.

I haven't seen enough of Burley to really comment, but of those I have seen I think Leonard could do it on his best night. Napoles, no. Too small. He'd keep it close over the first half, but then the physical attributes take over and he was just too wee.

    It's the speed too.

Napoles had "typical world class Welter" sort of speed.even if he was butter smooth with the punches.i can't imagine him trying to match combinations, jabs and leads with Robinson at ring-centre without being generally beaten to the punch and having to slip\take 2 or 3 to land 1 or 2.

On best form, I wouldn't be at all confident in picking any single Middleweight over him. As a Welter, I'd comfortably favor him over everyone. Mesmerizing beast on film and a record that suggest he was nigh-unbeatable when primed, as we all know.

At welter, Burley could and maybe a couple others (Holman Williams, Cocoa Kid, etc). But not many. At MW he was much more beatable and I see several ATG MWs giving him more than he could handle.

No, not really. If they did however, he'd win the rematch.
