I think the high priest of The Temple of Doom would fail in that task.

Nobody on this plant can even drop Welliver once, let alone knock him out. 413 rounds at HW without going down. Only Oliver McCall and George Chuvalo can claim more in a row. Welliver could walk through both the K2 brothers in the same night without ever tasting canvas. He probably can't beat them on points but they also cannot put him down for a count. He's the greatest chin in the history of HW boxing. And while he looks soft in the middle, he absorbs body shots better than any other boxer in history as well. Welliver=the greatest chin and greatest mid section in the history of boxing.

Very true, I really wish they'd pit him against Wilder:rofl
Would the Windmill not phase him?

Chauncey posts here, let's get his take. Chauncey are you here:think

Chauncy is about to face Rugby superstar Sonny Bill Williams in January. After that Wilder would be a great fight. As that fool needs rounds and Chauncy 100% will not go down against him. I actually think Chauncy would easily beat him as Wilder is pretty bad. I saw a 400 pounder knock his **** down and his team had to pay the 400 pounder to retire in the corner between rounds. Dustin Nichols knocked that fool over. And I saw Charlie f'n Zelenoff and a shot on Wilder and send him flying like a rag doll. How the F can a guy expect to be HW champion when he cn't even take a punch from Charlie Z? 140 pound Andrew Hartley takes a better punch than Deontay Wilder.

    Like Mark said......

Nobodies stopping Chauncey except a referee.

    PERIOD.

Sadly for fightfans, but HAPPILY for the Welliver/Grant family, little Lemyn Welliver came along and Chauncey all but gave up on real training.

His close losses to Tank Williams and Fujimoto, sent him into a downward spiral in the rankings, and having his first child gave him much happier things to look forward to than training.

His legend will live on b/c he's got name value for up n coming contenders, so his record of not going down will continue to grow, but his L's will pile up if doesnt fully dedicate himself to the sport.

Love ya Chauncey.......takign care of your family comes first, we know. But we'd love to see ya put a few W's on your record before you hang em up for good.:good

A better question would be how many top 10 heavyweight fighters actually use body punches to break an opponent down and create opening nowadays?

Welliver vs McCall would set the All Time Record for most HW rounds without going down in one ring together. 413 for Welliver and 432 for McCall. Chauncy has an 8 or 10 rounder against Sonny Bill set up on network Aussie TV. Someone should line this fight up next and also bring in George Chuvalo for the event. Chuvalo is the consecutive round king and has 507 consecutive rounds without going down. Chauncy is the only guy with a real shot to catch him and set the all time record. McCall is up there in age..way up there. Chauncy is early thirties and only 96 rounds from tying, 97 rounds from setting the record. He could be the all time holder of the record within 2 years if he stays active. :bbb

Before getting too excited about how many rounds "Jelly Belly" has managed to stand through. One needs to assess how many high calibre opponents he has fought.

In Chauncy's 70 fights, of which he has lost 10 and drawn in 5, I only count Solis, Ustinov, and perhaps Browne as high calibre. Most of his remaining 67 fights have been against absolute schmucks.

Meanwhile McCall has KTFO'd Lennox Lewis and took open shots from him with his arms at sides. Stay Puft Marshmallow Welliver could never manage that and it's an insult to try to put him in McCall's company.

McCall's chin is legendary and he regularly went in with world class comp.
