i guess you a new boxing fan, lacy was the new mike tyson until he went the uk and got made into a eunuch by the pride of wales. Lacy's corner were praying for the british stoppage that never came by the end of the 2nd round
i heard manchester hospital was practically shutdown for a week after the fight, they needed every staff member working on lacy to put him back together
i know who lacy is...and i met him personally months before the calzaghe fight at the winky/soliman fight.....lacy was never going to be an atg.....thats some fantasy you losers have concocted to prop up slappy joe....joe was a heck of a fighter....but lacy wasnt and lacy was overhyped.....slappy couldnt even finish off a dead man walking...... but really guys...can u name wildly popular fighters with many fans across the globe who are talked about that couldnt land any decent fights? i still cant think of any
and you didn't warn him not to pull out of the calzaghe fight? that was reckless of you, was lacy terrified of facing the pride of wales when you met him? they should have sent Roid Jones over in the late 90's to joe, 'can't be touched' lol by the time joe calzaghe would be finished with him he would have been touched so much he would be fully convinced the pride of wales was a catholic priest in disguise
why didn't you warn lacy to duck tbe calzaghe? calzaghe would have made jones look like a poor mans byron mitchell
Lacy's performance vs Calzaghe was one of the bravest in the past decade. Hugely over-matched and, after the first three rounds, fully aware he would lose, Lacy never once looked for a way out and took a beating his corner should have protected him from. He lost his '0' and his career that night and was never the same fighter.
Hey Shockmaster, I'm taking your thread seriously. It is a bit peculiar that all the ingredients seem to be there but GGG is still not firing off. After a bit of thought, I really think it has a lot to do with being in the winter of the May/Pac era of boxing. I really think those two guys did a lot more to ruin boxing for the fans than people give them credit for. We know they stole our pay per view money and that they totally squashed any chances of getting more people interested in boxing, but I also think they ruined fighters/promoters/networks and the way they do business. Still fresh is May/Pac that now I think, more than ever, boxers don't care about legacy but they just want to get their big paycheck and retire. It's much more like a normal job than it was before. I "got it" when people say, "yeah, it's called 'prize fighting' for a reason" but guess what, DON'T F-ING BOX THEN! Boxing is a sport. Even football players get paid ridiculous amounts of money but at the end of the day, they HAVE to play the other team. They can't just negotiate every game. I dunno, I'll stop ranting.
can anyone name another extremely popular fighter, selling out arenas in the US and is constantly talked about, who had trouble getting good fights?? i cant think of one.....this doesnt add up! some of you have overestimated the popularity of your favorite fighter...if he were as big as you say he is he'd get fights....everyone else got them...everyone else is getting them...he isnt
canelo/cotto did well....canelo/khan did well....these were post floyd/pac..... and GGG is supposed to be the anti-floyd! the savage ko seeking machine boxer/puncher! thats supposed to be a paying mans delight! ya pac/floyd did some damage...it turned off the casuals.....but the casuals were casuals anyway and werent watching fights regularly....to me casuals dont count...only in rare instances like pac/floyd do casuals count and add to numbers......lets look at ward/kova for instance...casuals aint messin with that....those who care already cared
