All (or any) of the champion's of every weight division? - without using boxrec or google etc?

Once upon a time every joe on the street knew every champ in every division. These days I doubt most boxing fans could even name them.
    I know I can't.

    So? What's the chop?

This thread was (kinda, sorta, maybe) inspired by one of Ash's comments in the "meaningless title" thread.
I also apologise that this isn't about those who shall not be named, but I'm seriously getting bored. Is this a boxing forum or not?

It used to be, and a damn good one.

I could maybe name one champ in each but would waver towards the lower divisions. The higher divisions I might ping a couple, but that wouldn't be WBA regular or interim ones.

But yeah, apparantly more is better...

    You make a valid point.

    Anthony Mundine.
    Danny Green.

    The rest is irrelevant.

Eight man tournaments in each division starting in 2010 and ending in 2012 would be great for the sport. Great fights and legitimate champs.

In days gone by a boxing purist could recite almost all the champs, and perhaps who they won their titles from as well.

These days you'd need to suffer from asperges, like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman, to have any chance at all!

Ash's 'Man' doesn't mind quoting the meaningless alphabet titles so he and his merry band of nuthuggers like Ash can claim 'Mr-3 Time', or '4-Time' or whatever the **** he is!

I can name the divisions I'm interested in..... MW and SMW's and get a few in the LM's, LW and WW....and maybe a few at LH, CW and HW....I suck at the low weights under LW other than Vic at SFLY.....however I cant remember where Siaca is the champ :huh

But maybe more to the point is can anybody name the fighter and what org his belt is in....then Im ****ed....only MW

These good old days your talking about Max.......how long ago?

I guesss with 1 or 2 belts as champ its a bit more easy to remember

So I guess you missed my threads where I broke the news on Chocolatas return, the Cayo-Maidana contract rider and Shannan Taylor vs Garth Woods.

You can't name the fighter or the belt yet you want more champs?

Thats some sound logic right there.

    Quality, not quantity.

    When there was one CHAMP.

That's the point. By definition there can only be one champ.
I just don't see how having multiple titles can be good for the sport.

That's what I'm doing. I don't post in mundine/green threads, which is why I don't post much. Although I don't think that comment was directed at me.
But any time a decent thread gets started it seems to disappear under all the BS. People just pay lip service to it.

Anyway, "titles" do not attract an audience, it turns people away because it gets so damn confusing and people don't know what the guys are fighting for.

This is why the guy on the street ponders why Kostya never fought Tyson.
How is he supposed to know they are in different divisions when he can't even name the divisions, let alone who's champ?

    Ash,

Up until recently just about every thread, regardless of how it started, has been hijacked by Bozo Trolls like Luds & 20a87, and turned into a Mundine love fest / Green hate fest.

Its an interesting point....on one hand I think more champs...more belts...more title fights....more viewers....on the other hand I agree with what your saying...who know who's champ these days.

I have followed boxing for the last 20 years....but nothing before that...I dont watch old fights other than some of Alis

For the record my last 10 threads....1 was about Mundine v Pavlik...backed by a USA paper saying Mundine is a chamce to fight Pavlik....the other thread was my Avatar bet...but I was going on inside news ...the other 8 threads were not related to Mundine

I think its the haters posting more than the huggers :deal

If the haters started threads on other stuff people would post in that :deal

I agree. The haters are as bad as the huggers. The problem is they feed off each other which is why you get 10 pages of jibberish.
You do fuel it somewhat though, but you are one of the likeable ones. (that's not to say I like you:twisted:)

Anyway, I'll try to make more threads on actual boxing related stuff.
After all, that's why I come here. None of my friends in the "real" world give 2 sh*ts about boxing, which I guess makes this forum even more frustrating when it's clogged up with BS.

Back on topic, how do we improve the situation? The first obvious step is to only have one governing body (like pretty much every other sport in the world) but it still needs more than that, and how would it be done?
