Can anyone tell me more about Larry Holmes please?

There used to be a public forum on his website, and he posted regularly. I don't think the forum is there anymore.

I've never heard anyone who met him come away saying he is a *****. He truly is an entirely different person when you meet him than what he seems in interviews.

 

That is a shame the forum is no longer there. Used to be some great discussions there and some excellent boxing advice from the champ himself who used to post often.

Not stopped as in knocked out or technically knocked out. The referee stopped the fight in the third round of the Olympic trials after warning Holmes several times for holding.

 

Was one of the first boxers to be sponsored by Pony along with Ken Norton and Earnie Shavers. The Pony chevron was ubiquitious on the shoes and trunks of the Easton Assassin during his title reign. By the way, that was a cool brand. I wish it could have made a comeback a couple of years ago.

 

Oh yeah, the designer jeans craze was in full swing in the late-70's to early 80's. Larry also sometimes was sponsored by Sasson jeans as you can see on his trunks in spion's avatar. Damn, Sasson jeans and Pony athletic shoes? I'm having an 80's flashback! LOL
