everyone is riding haye's jock all of a sudden?I mean id bet half the people talking about how hes the next big thing have only seen him off youtube. Ive never even seen this guy on a broadcast. I checked his record and hes been knocked out. So, whats so great about him?
I give it ten months until everyone is giving him the Fraudley treatment, promised an awful lot but produced very little.. I have watched him struggle through fights with Thompson and Fragomeni, even Mormeck had him slam dunked.. Macca was a bit over rated looking back and i see him moving up and onward far too fast and meeting a name heavyweight who cleans his clock bigtime.. i dont want to sound cynical but i have watched him for a very long time, he is a flash in the pan...
Honestly he hasn't been on my radar until he beat mormeck. I watched the Mac fight and he did impress me with his quickness and Heavy hands. From what you say, You have watched him for sometime now... How has he matured as a fighter? Why do you consider him a flash in the pan?
people are excited because he throws big punches and is exciting to watch. the fact that he's been knocked out before doesn't deter people from watching him. his plans to go heavyweight have likely earned him more fans as a result of the wlad fight. i'm still not sure how he would hold up to some heavyweight punchers or how he figures he's going to earn a shot at wlad
That wont happen. Even if he fails at heavy he still has his cruiser laurels to rest on. Fraudley gets stick because he has all the gifts and none of the heart. Haye has unified a division (Cunningham notwithstanding) in just 21 fights. No comparison.
Yeah, i'm not sold on him either. I can recognize that he has exceptional raw talents but that alone doesn't guarantee you anything if you can't take a punch and translate that power to a higher division.
Well roy jones can't take a punch but it translated... Haye doesn't even compare to the hand speed that roy has however... Haye couldn't even beat O'neal Bell... i don't know what the hype is about!
I'll admit to being a "you-tube" fan of Haye's. I don't know how he'll do at HW, but just the fact that there's the possibility of a smaller/quicker HW that still has some pop is exciting. In short, you can chalk it up to the weakness of the HW division, overpopulated with poorly conditioned plodders. Haye holds some promise to change that a bit; whether it bears itself out, we'll only find out in the ring.
haye is just a reminder of rjj going up and being the smaller/quicker HW and evander holyfield but in my opinion he's just not in their class
