thts what it is all about wi his manager , couldnt care about his boxers only cares about the money . where does paul go from here?? wht does his manager do now ??
He'll rebound and be what he was always going to be- a decent domestic level performer, but a much richer one I presume on the back of last night. Credit to him, he's strong and had the balls to take the fight. He will need serious work to ever be anything more than domestic level. Believe you me. 6/7/2008.... Nothings changed.
He's only 21 - he'll be better of learning from thsi than smashing up a few imports. From watching him last night I agree with the above comments regarding his defence - far too easy for Lindsay to hit. If I were Appelby though I'd stay at feather for as long as possible - his size is a good advantage in that division.
exactly hes only 21 hes has had 1 loss and people are questioning him atsch this loss could im,rpove him
Paul never was going to be a world beater, and that got exposed last night. Decent domestic fighter, but never going to make noise at world level imo.
There is plenty of time to come back. I actually think he is quite a special talent and with the right coach that defence would tighten up nicely. I remember something a while back about him sparring etc over at Freddy Roach's gym in the US and Roach was very impressed with him. As Apps already said you can sometimes take more from a loss than you can from 10 wins against nobodies.
If he goes to Billy Nelson he's got a chance of doing something more.... But the only trainer in Scotland that will improve him is Billy. His current trainer doesn't seem to have addressed any of his weakpoints. He needs to box long. Use the ring, improve his creativity.... He looks like someone who either spends too much time on the punch bag or the Body Bag. There is no foot work, and no defensive smarts... Offensively he is pretty good but he telegraphs his long shots and smothers his work on the inside.
Never in a million years would Appleby beat Lindsey IMO.... I'd have put Linsdey on a par with Brodie last night and i'm a massive Brodie fan... He's got real talent.
