The atmosphere/occasion didn't get to Appleby, Martin Lindsay did, Great job by Lindsay who admitted after the fight that Appleby hurt him a couple of times.
Appleby's response to the question about the crowd was honest, "the crowd didn't affect me, He was sharp" sums it up perfectly.
Appleby will come back from this I've not doubt, he's young but he does have a lot of work to do.

I just read he wants two 8 rounders then a shot at John Simpson's Commonwealth belt.

That shows a lack of real ambition

It's interesting to see where these go from here. I read Lyndsay could be getting a world title shot , check out irishboxing.com. I read in the Scotsman Tommy Gilmour say's they would have avoided Lindsay if he wasn't mandatory so there won't be a rematch. Don't forget Lindsay's got mandatory's as well so Simpson might end up getting a shot at him . Appelby has lost his Lonsdale belt and European title shot so if they avoid Lindsay the only route they can take is the Commonwealth , interesting domestic division just now .

I know John would give him a rematch noproblem to avenge his lost to him that cost john winning the lonsdale belt outright and alsofeels very hard done by the decision.

Only thing is 2 Ls in 1 year for Appleby wouldnt do him any good. He needs to go backt o the drawing board and tighten thaqt defence. As already said going with billy nelson would be a great move or even go to the US get in some top quality sparring before considering any more title shots.

I think Simpson would have a good chance of beating him.... he really underperformed last time they fought and still ran him close.

You are totally true.if that slip that was awarded as a knockdown hadnt been given John would have won the fight and as you said John just didnt seem to do it on the night he openly admits was 1 of his worse performances as a fighter in the paid ranks. Would have been great if appleby had won against lyndsay and they could have fought for both titles but not to be.

What about you jeff not fancy being a trainer im sure you could teach Appleby a thing or 2!
