I reckon Bellew will win this. Memories is Stevenson and not wanting to get sparked at Goodison - stick with his jab, hold and be cagey. Result probably a boring fight, no way Makubu is getting a decision with all the Creed hype

No. They didn't hype the Smith fight because it was broadcast from the USA and because Smith is not a popular fighter. What's the point in investing a lot of time and effort in a fighter at a very light weight class who is the least popular in a family of four boxers?

They hyped Crolla because he's the biggest boxer they have from Manchester. Sky is all about regions. And they are hyping Bellew because they've taken a large gamble with a stadium fight on a Sunday night.

I personally don't know much about Makabu. I'll watch some videos in the build-up to the fight but Bellew has improved a lot and boxed well against Masternak.

 

If Bellew sticks to his smart boxing he can win it. I hope he does

 

Even if Bellew wins he certainly isn't beating 'Mighty' Mairis Briedis.

Is anyone going to this? I am but i'm gutted the Dodson fight is off. I'm under no illusions that he would have been hugely up against it but it was just something interesting to get behind the local, over the hill underdog. Now we have to settle for Callum Smith vs the toughest punch bag in Eastern Europe.

 

I'm not from England, that's just my opinion.
What's your thoughts on how the fight will pan out?

 

Personally I think Bellew has looked poor at Cruiserweight, just my opinion.

I remember him nearly coming apart against Brudov, the Cleverley fight when both looked poor and the Masterznak win which was very close and I thought he was only meant to be fringe world level at best.

If Makubu is anywhere near as good as some people are saying, shouldn't be win this?

I just think Bellew has struggled in too many of his CW fights - Seems a lot of it is also down to conditioning and punch accuracy from what I have seen.

 

I think he's looked poor too at Cruiserweight. Little footage of Makubu exists but from what I've seen he should start as favourite.

Bellew's best chance I feel is on points.

 

Judges and refs already fixed...bellew only needs to last the 12 rounds

His right hand misses so so often.
Left hook is a bit more accurate - has to box this one if he goes to war he gets sparked

 

I have not yet seen his opponent so I can't comment but I hope Bellew loses.

 

Bellew will try and take Makabu into the late rounds but Bellew gets caught and stopped
I cant predict a round could be anytime
