Easy win for Calzaghe! Only an injured Calzaghe would make for a competetive fight!

I donot think that he can beat hopkins with one hand. He will hurt his hands though, Hands take a beating in boxing. Hopefully he doesn't break anything. Joe Looks like he is vulnerable to the body. I believe that Hopkins should go to the body early. The only problem is that when one is tying to go to the body he is open to a lot of head counters which puts you behind in points.

Agreed. That is why I think Calzaghe should lay off the real power punches until the 2nd half of the fight.

Exactly. That is why Calzaghe's main concern should be protecting his hands. But if he's talking about punching harder and trying to stop Hopkins (a foolish ploy IMHO).....................then it seems like he's giving scant regard to the chance of hand damage.

It has happened before people. And, to state the blindingly obvious, BHop (even at 43) is no Evans Ashira.

If Calzaghe damages his hands and loses or performs poorly..........the Americans will accept NO excuses. They'll say something like ''we told you Calzaghe was overrated all along''.

And Joe will be forced to return to Wales and in to retirement - his dreams in ruins.

I just have a bad feeling about this.

Good or not it looks like he whipped and KO'ed Austin literally with one hand - and it was his LEFT hand.

As for Calzaghe I think he beats Hopkins at this point of his career but he's gonna need both of his fully healthy, fit and busy hands..

You beat me to this thread. Calzaghe would win a comfortable decision if he broke either hand.

Not both, at least if the breaks were bad.

So long as he has one hand to punch with he is fine. Broken hands can still be used for defensive duties.

He's already promised to nut him at the weigh in. He could open a cut with a sneaky headbutt if his second hand goes when he's ahead on points.

OK I dunno why everyone is taking what Joe C says so seriously about trying to KO Hopkins. Pre-fight hype, Joe isn't stupid, he will win the first half of the fight on points, and then MAYBE he will try the KO, MAYBE. Ill advised though.

Absolutely not, have people really forgot how smart a fighter Hopkins is? If JC broke his hand than Hopkins will exploit that to no end.

    I agree.
Jope C wins the fight without a break, but it will only take Hopkins one round to figure out the injury
