Calzaghe is 35 years old. He has right now a 43-0 record.

If he wins 7 more fights (including the Kessler fight) he'll be 50-0 and will have like 27 title defenses. So he would have destroyed Marciano's and Joe Louis' record.

    Can he do it?

He should defeat Kessler and then beat 6 bums between 2008 and 2010. Then retire with the 50-0.

He can if he stays active, but he fights 2 times a year which means it will take him 4 years, so I say no.

It depends on who he fights. I don't think he can do it if he's fighting top contenders. Seven fights is probably 3 years more of fighting. At the least it will be 2 years. He can do it if he picks his fights very, very carefully. But he'l have to endure a sh*tstorm of abuse from the fans, especially the U.S. fans.

If he wants to beat both records, he should do a great last effort and beat Kessler in November. Then fight 6 Peter Manfredo kind of opponents. Calzaghe would be 38 by the time he has a 50-0 record.

However, he'll probably choose to fight other top contenders because they bring more money to the table. And there he'll be defeated.

Well lemme not say the word CANT, cuz he rightfully can. But against top competition I think he will catch an L. IF he decides to come to 175 and face anyone of the top contenders there. He will catch a L IMO

Yeah those are only numbers... i'd be more impressed with his legacy if he added the likes of B-hop, Winky or maybe even an Osacr to his win resume. Personally Lacy is the most notable opponent, he needs a few more.(In my opinion) Atleast two mega fights before he calls it quits

I can't answer this. We don't know who are going to be the top contenders in two years. Maybe Kelly Pavlik, if he defeats Taylor and then successfully moves up to 168.

Pointless goal, but nothing wrong with aiming for it.

It's the wrong era for that kind of goal. Few champions fight three or more times a year now. And at his age even bums are risky - he needs more time to recover between fights. Even training requires more recovery time at age 35. So pursuing Louis' and Marciano's records would probably backfire.

Also, he'd have to travel. European champs don't like to travel because they don't trust the U.S. and U.S. champs don't like to defend in Europe for the same reason.

He'd get more mileage from beating Jermain Taylor, Pavlik, Hopkins or another top guy and then retiring with his "0" intact. But if he really wants to impress me (and I'm sure that impressing me weighs heavily on Joe's mind), I'd like to see him tackle Glen Johnson. Glen's the toughest light heavy around right now, he deserves a big payday and it would be a tough, exciting fight, everything the Lacy fight should have been.

I like Johnson. He is a great fighter, tough as nails and a likeable guy. But if you say he is the toughest, and you mean he is the best LHW, then I disagree. B-hop and Dawson are both clearly ahead of Johnson atm.

No, I doubt it. 7 fights is too many for him at his age. It'd take him at least 3 years to do it and he dosen't have that time. When he beats Kessler in November he should look for a fight with the winner of Taylor/Pavlik. That's his last fight at SM. Then he cn move to LH and beat BHOP and/or Dawson.

Joe Louis defended the undisputed championship 25 times. Calzaghe has been WBO super middleweight champion (a micky mouse belt in a micky mouse division) for most of his defenses. It's clearly not the same feat at all.
