I can see Canelo and Cotto doing just that. Floyd is the face of boxing, but that date is a Mexican date, and if a Mexican superstar is boxing I can't see Floyd taking that date from them. Not with out having an opponent that people want to see him fight. I'm a Floyd fan, always was and will be, but Canelo vs Cotto, who wouldn't want to see that fight? Floyd fan or not. The only two people I can think of that would steal the date, would be Mayweather vs Pacquiao or GGG at 154lbs. I don't think Khan could do it, but I could be wrong.

I don't believe the afraid crap, and I do believe they will fight. Pac as I stated and possibly GGG are the only two that would take that date from Canelo. There's really no other fight for Floyd that would be a super fight.

People also tend to not know or forget but, that date is actually not a Mexican holiday, it's an American one where we celebrate Mexican's. And if I were HBO I would definitely explain that to the American people in their promotion of this fight, we are supposed to be celebrating all things Mexican, and choosing between a fight where the numero uno Mexican is fighting the numero uno rival should be an absolute no brainer.

I don't think GGG could do it tbh. Not a big enough name yet. But I'd say a more dangerous fight than Pac at this point.

Even if Cotto-Canelo sells more than a Floyd fight, they won't put it on the same day.

Tis true dummy, Mexican's won some war against the French (I believe it was the French) in Mexico that did not allow the French to use that area in Mexico as a staging ground to attack America. To Mexico they were just doing what they would've anyway but to America it disallowed the French to use Mexico as a staging ground to help the confederates attack America. It was a more important victory for us during our civil war than it was for the Mexican's. The civil war may have had a very different victory had not been for that victory, and so we celebrate the people and country who greatly helped ours, even if it was in an indirect manner.

It doesn't really matter who moves, it's more of a power move. I think Floyd will change his date because TMT is not bigger than GBP+TR.
