And Canelo should have at least 2 losses on his record.

Realistic answer idk winning a title at cruiser is a BIG help tho a legit 5-division Champ one of only a dozen or less in boxing history, Canelo is on pace to catch or past the record set by Mayweather then Pacquiao for most champs beaten in history. I think the difference is who he’s fighting… these new fighters lack ambition so it’s not like Canelo is fighting anybody GREAT because none of these guys are trying to be GREAT they trying to stat lad and hope for a retirement check. Previous eras more guys wanted to be the top dog which made for better comp this era wants somebody else to become the top dog and take all the risk so they can cash out vs them.

as great as Canelo is Currently beating Smith Saunders and Plant isn’t as good as beating Ortiz, Maidana. And Pacquiao and that’s mainly because the former never tried to make any type of good fight outside of Smith and the later where battle tested and proven ourside of Ortiz…
What Canelo needs to Cement himself is for one of these other fighters to reach for greatness and become an actual GREAT..
If Benavidez beat Charlo then beat Plant then beat Bertibev then beat bivol then beat Smith then fought Canelo for all the marbles that would be a GREAT opponent.. currently we don’t know if David could beat any of those fighters and if he fights Canelo now and loses likely never fights any of them so we’d never know.

Floyd is at least top 5 atg in terms of pure boxing skills. Also, his resume contains lots of hall of famers. Canelo couldn't surpass him yet.

    No.

Mayweather is the most overrated boxer in history, but he's clearly better and greater than Canelo.

Mayweather was never Undisputed though, and Canelo has a lot more wins and a lot more KOs. Canelo is carving out a legacy Mayweather didn't take the kind of risks that Canelo is taking.

If you wanna got that route, Canelo "should" have 5 losses...............and those losses were right in the midst of his prime.

Yes. Floyd gave Canelo the blueprint: take PEDs, control every aspect of the fight terms including catchweights when advantageous, buy the judges, weight jump to get additional titles without ever proving to be the undisputed best in any weight division, and try not to fight any elite fighters until their best days are behind them. To his credit, Canelo is following the plan perfectly.

What exactly is Mayweather’s record to surpass? Fight only passed it HOF’s, one-dimensional plodders and some non-boxer to 50-0? Or break the PPV records?

5’8 Canelo, from 147 will soon be fighting the rings #2 ranked Cruiserweight in a bit. Mayweather is a great fighter, but he’s a low tier ATG who did nothing special.

Beating Usyk at cruiser or heavy would do it. Ain't happening though.

Both ATGs, but Mayweather was so technically excellent.

It's all narrative building with Canelo. As soon as the cruiserweight thing was announced they even had it on UK Talksport news, saying how Canelo was trying to make history, what a load of bollocks

What risks? Clearing the weakest division then cherry picking the weakest belt holder in two others?
That isn't GOAT material. If he had cleared out JMW Middle and LHW as wel as SMW then he would certainly be in the discussion but Floyd and Pac are still confortably ahead in my opinion.

    Maybe if he beats Usyk.

Shawn Porter did it back in the amateurs so it's not totally insane.

His earlier performances do raise a lot of doubts.
