his career up to now has had a lot of bad reviews from media and public , personally i think his father has not helped matters by saying a lot of stupid things way way too soon in his career . but we should be seeing it for what it is which is the hype machine in motion .

all the fights before saunders were just standard stuff for any upcoming fighter , feed them on cannon fodder and build a half decent record until the next step up the ladder . this is standard procedure for any prospect and should not be frowned on .

so we come to the saunders fight , was it a jump up the ladder a bit too soon ? i really dont know . it was a fight of 2 halves , had he done anything remotely decent in the first 5 rounds he would of won the fight i think . losing his 0 i think could be the best thing that ever happens to him , it has made him realize that you cannot underestimate opponents ever again because im pretty sure he thought he would knock billy joe out easily that night and he came unstuck and found himself 5 rounds down to a very good durable boxer .

the chudinov fight we saw a different eubank , he came to win and pretty much destroyed his opponent over 12 rounds and put on a good show in my opinion , the guy he faced did not lay down and should be given a lot of credit for taking the amount of punishment he took that night .

ok so we come to last night , yes ok it should never have been the main event , it was only a warm-up to get rid of a bit of ring rust but he disposed of the guy in pretty good fashion i thought and certainly paves the way to what could be a decent fight against o,sullivan in december .

but my question is this , if he can progress his career over the next 18months-2 years and get some decent wins , o,sullivan , jacobs , maybe a rematch win over saunders or whoever else hes matched with , i dont see a GGG fight on the horizon just yet by the way , thats just there hype machine in overdrive again . but if he can get these wins and do it impressively can he get the public on side ?

Personally I don't think I'll ever like the geezer, if he can back up his claims I'll respect him and say fairplay, but I doubt CEJ will be a major player in boxing in a few years time anyway. The public being on his side isn't anything I can see happening anytime soon though.

Anyone who gets offended by a boxers 'arrogance' is in the wrong sport

I don't think it is nessecarily the arrogance I think it can just generally be the person. For example I have no problems with Tyson Fury, but I don't like Prince Patel at all, Or CEJ. And I wouldln't say anyone who's affected by arrogance is in/watching the wrong sport. Its a useful marketing tool, but its not what wins points in bouts, so therefore not as much of a problem as say someone who has problems with brutality in the sport. I once read on here "if you want compassion go and watch Golf", and that is true, not so much to the arrogance. A fighter can never be too spiteful but thats his business in the ring, un warranted arrogancy can cause people too be spiteful its part of the sport but you don't have to like it. *******s to CEJ and his "top sparring sessions" and all that, time will reveal all.

When you're a nobody, you needa trick to draw attention to yourself.

All talk no substance, European level at best, with a big mouth and deluded parent.

Maybe Snr needs to milk the offspring to sort out the bank balance.

I don't really think that he is hated because of what he does, when he speaks he is fairly respectful, I don't like what he does in the ring when he just stares as that comes off extremely arrogant, however I have always found him to speak pretty well. I think most of the hate comes from his dads words and his dads act, however he received a better reception last night than I recall him getting in past fights.

I agree completely. I think he is AT least as popular as his father was at a similar stage of his career. So there is hope for him winning over the fans, certainly.

also there isnt a lot of OTHER English middles to choose from these days and Brit fans/media will be looking for a new icon to get behind.
Also with the coming rise of a wave of Irish middles, there will be even more 'demand' for a strong figure at 160 in the UK...

    .....just IMO!

Jr is a pleasant enough young man, well mannered, bright and has a decent sense of humour but Sky will not help him with coverage like that.

People know when they are being force fed horse s*** and Team Sky shovelled it on the paying public last night.

It is clear Sr will be hanging on to Jr's limelight so there is no point even suggesting he keep a low profile.

What's wrong with a boxer coming across as arrogant?! weird.

I like the serial killer vibe of Jr...

    I concur,

but i prefer it from a fighter who can back it up, not just an upstart doing a poor imitation of his father.

But isn't he backing it up? seriously?

I feel like I've typed the same thing a few times on Eubank Jr threads... but let's be real. When he first cam along, say, three years ago he was a flat out fraud. That was the received wisdom. No talent whatsoever. Then the received wisdom became he has some skills..some... but not punch. None at all. Pillow fists. Then he started knocking everyone out. "So he can punch, but he is fighting tin-cans!", was the cry. "Cherry-picked bums, he has no ambition and is fake", said everyone. Then he started to call out Saunders, completely at odds with what everyone was saying.. Then, from fighting bums, he was all of a sudden taking the Saunders fight with little to no real run-up for that jump in class. Well.. he lost, which if it were any other name with that level of experience we'd all say was totally expected. But did he really lose? Another round he'd probably have stopped Saunders that night. He just froze and gave up the first six rounds (my view). Then, guess what, he fights Chudinov and wins a title, winning impressively. Now he stopped the guy they put in front of him in a minute or two and is talking Sullivan before fighting GGG, who everyone says is the best.

Stop me where any of this reflects badly on him in some way.

Personally I cant argue with any of that. I welcome new talent and will cheer for Junior no problem - I wish him every success, just not against Spike though! If he beats Spike he will rise in my estimation cos Spike is tough.
Juniors cv is a bit better than Spikes - he did better against Billy and there no denying spike hasnt beaten a Chudinov-level opponent, although I think Spike would murder Chudinov if they fought.
