I think they are both technically flawed enough to make it a great fight ... I think Clottey's defense will give Pacquiao problems but I don't see it being a determining factor during the fight. Because of the way Clottey hooks he could leave himself open for a nice straight left hand ...

    I like Clottey's chin as well ...

I have to change my original statement ... I can see this being a great inside fight (with many of us seeing Pac stand toe to toe the whole fight) I like what I saw from Pacquiao in his fight with Cotto - he showed that he can walk down a bigger guy if he had to. The down slide of this is that he took more power shots from a bigger guy.

Clottey is also a good body puncher ...

I don't think Pacquiao hits as hard as Cotto either - he may be strong and faster but he doesn't hit that hard.

To elaborate on that Pacquiao has gotten alot of stoppages and most of those guys finished on their feet ... not on their back. I think that there's a difference in being stopped on your feet and being stopped after being knocked down several times.

Clottey is black. I think he will be Pac's toughest fight out of the last few he's had. Just instinct.

Clottey would definitley give pac problems .. Such as pac not being able to finish this guy in 12 rounds, he may be able to put him down once but even that may not happen.

But it will be a clear UD for pac..

clottey is a dangerous fight no matter what anyone says. this guy is huge compared to pacquiao, thats why i think we will see the most disciplined pacquiao yet. he is going to box him and wait for the opportunities.

Cotto has a good right, so does Oscar so I don't know what you're talking about. Even Hatton's right hand was mentioned to be a punch that could give Pac problems but Pac overcame all.

Clottey's style definitely has a good shot because of one major point many seem to ignore, Clottey's damn HEAD and Clottey uses it INTENTIONALLY, look what it did to Cotto and YES Pac has been cut before. You guys all remember the headbutts that caused cuts in the first Morales fight and Morales didn't do them intentionally, that happens in a tough southpaw vs orthodox fight, it's one of these things hard to avoid and when you have someone who uses it intentionally and has done so in almost ALL of his important fights then you know we're in for danger. Pac will overcome it but it won't look pretty.

This ISN'T an opponent Pac will blow out in a round or two, Pac and his team were dead serious when they wanted the Mayweather fight on this date and this is is the proof. This is going the full 12.

Exactly, the only thing that will give a little problem to Pac is his defense, but with his inactivity, Pac will just outwork him.

Pacs rehydration clause won't allow Clottey to be anywhere near 170...besides he has never weighed 170 or close in a fight...

It's interesting how most pundits write Clottey off because of how dominant Pac has ben vis-a-vis his last 4 opponents but people tend to overlook the following facts.

    1. Clottey is a good counter puncher
    2. He is orthodox and has a very good right hand (both straights and upper cuts).
    3. He also has very fast left hooks (he can triple and quadruple them)
    4. He is deceptively fast (not Pac fast but above average fast. He was outspeeding Cotto in combination punching)
    5. Clottey is a very good combination puncher
    6. He has a very tight defense to both the body and head. He moves his elbows up or down to protect his body. (Only Mayweather is harder to hit flush than him at Welterweight)
    7. He can fight at any pace his opponent fights at
    8. His movements are economised but his footwork is very good. He positions himself correctly at all times and is aware of where he is at in the ring at all times. His movement is part of his defense at times.(he doesn't waste energy bouncing around but he moves in any direction very well and very quickly when required). The canvas(or his boots) didn't help in the Cotto fight.
    9. He fights smart. He is a technician like Mayweather looking to capitalise on your mistakes and loopholes rather than a gungho KO artist. Check his landed\thrown punches (for and against) in his last 7 fights. His percentages are behind only Mayweather and Pac(in some fights).

If any one wants to check this facts out, watch his fights with Coralles, Judah, Margarito, Cotto, Jose Luis Cruz, Felix Flores and Shamone Alvarez. Those are his last 7 fights. He dominated most of those fights. When he was on on roll even Cotto and Margarito were completely dominated (Marg 1 -4, Cotto 7 -9).

    That said he is also
    1. Overly cautious at times
    2. Needs to reset from defense to offense, the switch is not always smooth or quick. The reverse, offense to defense is very fast though.
    3. He is not very good at cutting off the ring when his opponent uses a lot of movement. (Cotto 11-12).

Maybe his new trainer can correct that without compromising his defense.

I'm 50-50 for this fight because Pac is one hell of a fighter and he never ceases to amaze with his abilities. Pac has to fight a very disciplined, smart fight with a lot of movement(de la Hoya) to beat him. He can't afford to go against Roach's orders in this fight otherwise we'll all be shocked, especially Pac.

I think one thing that will give pacman problem is that quick double left hook he throws, also he'll be able to block the straight left much like he did against zab. I see this fight going as taylor wright. If pacman stays on the ropes like he did against cotto he might not see the final bell. But i think roach will beat that into his head. Competive fight i see a knockdown, from manilla ice, being the difference for a pacman decision.
