Exactly! Those of you who think Margo will just bull rush Cotto on the inside the way he did Cintron might be sadly mistaken by the time the fight rolls round. Considering Tony's height and reach advantage here it's in his best interest to keep Miguel at bay. That's also why I don't think being on the outside and trying to outbox Margo would be in Cotto's best interest, because I don't think being at the end of Tony's punches is a good idea for him at all.
Exactly. Cotto will have a tough time trying to box Margo from the outside. If he's smart he'll get inside and smother Margo's power and maximize his own.
Margo has a better stamina, chin, a higher workrate, reach, and he's 5-11 compared to the short 5-7 Cotto, Margo has a lust for violence that Cotto dosen't, i fully expect mArgo to be victorious on JULY 26:deal
Ok but the thread mentions beating Margo at his own game....would'nt your emphasis on Margo's reach completely and utterly contradict his physical advantge when fighting on the inside. Would he not negate his power and reach by chosing to exchange in close quarters? It would'nt be wise to approach the fight this way as Cotto has a nack for nullifying the oppositions greatest strength therefore forcing them to utilize a back up strategy. Intresting subject btw.....you can create so many scenerios and rebuttals when discussing each fighters advantages and disadvantages when figting in the trenches.
In general uppercuts negate that disadvantage. A smaller man has the shorter arms but he is going to have to work hard to hit the body. Particularly when his opponent tucks the elbows all night. And to make matters worse if that opponent has a very good uppercut he will land on the chin before anything else. Considering the smaller man's head is right there in front of the guard.
If Cotto was just going to stand in there and trade with Margarito all night, I see him ending up like Cintron in the 2nd fight. There's no doubt Cotto has to box during the, but I'm pretty sure he knows this already.
Cotto will be hurt inside, I think Margarito hits harder than Mosley and better inside. Cotto's chin is surely weaker than Margarito's, I think Cotto should work from the outside and must not leave Margarito come close.
Cotto will just simply beat Margo inside that ring. Whether it is on the inside or from the outside, Margo is a class below him.
Ha! all the more reason for Cotto to implement his body attack while Margo deploys his vaunted uppercuts. There's not going to be much work involved when trying to hit Margo because he will be there to be hit....its all about working on chopping his big ass down to size. All in all who's better equiped to make adjustments when need be......speak now or forever hold your peace.
The idea that big men can't hold their own inside is a myth. And good luck hitting a man's body when he's stuffing uppercuts in your face all night.
of course Cotto can beat Margarito at his own game, i think Cotto fights better than Margo inside and is faster than Margo,,,and Cotto isn't Cintron who is like we say in P.R. "un gallo morrueco" that means a rooster that can't fight and is scare.
Cotto will definitely engage numerous times on the inside and I won't be shocked if he actually does more damage than Margarito but don't expect him to do that all the way and give Margarito a better chance. Cotto will most likely box and slug here and there all the way to the 12th, Cotto is going to fight smart for sure and make sure he gets the W with some action. If Margarito is able to hurt Cotto early or when he gets on the inside then it's going to be hell for Cotto.
