i am picking cotto expecting him to fight a smart fightif he chooses to fight margarito's fight, no way in hell does he win. margarito is too good at his one dimensiontoo big too strong, i can't see cotto moving him in an all out brawl.

It's all about the JAB.. Cotto has a great strong jab he can bust Margaritos face up with all night. Once he gets that jab working then everything else will come into place.

Its a very good question and as much as I don't think that Cotto should do that .... I think it would be right up Cotto's alley to fight that way.

I think Cotto is the more talented and with his short, compact punches, he stands a chance to impose his will on Margarito ... rather he could do it long enough to wear down Margarito will soon be determined.

To answer you question ... Yes Cotto can beat Margarito at his own game in my opinion - even though this style is a style I would not choose Cotto to fight ... I'd rather see him use his speed, agility, and footwork on the outside - use his jab to offset Margarito's attack and outbox him for 12 rounds.

Get of clean power shots get the eye of the judges and do some damage and get out of dodge. You are not just going to hurt Margarito with one punch. You have to wear him down and frustrate him. Cotto hitting him with power shots and margarito chasing him around the ring and missing his wide looping punches and Cotto countering him some more will wear margarito down by the mid rounds and cotto will just dig that body.

cotto is probably just as strong as margarito is despite being shorter, is quicker and has the shorter more compact punches so he might be able to get the better of most inside exchanges.

this will be a helluva fight.

Margo's too slow and sloppy to win on the inside and he's going to eat too many shots, Margo's got a good chin, but he's not cast iron like people think he is and Cotto absolutely can hurt him to the body and the jaw, as well as accumulate damage.

It isn't going to last very long, 5-7 rounds. Not that Cotto's gone up a level in ability, it's that Margo's a level down in ability from Mosely.

And would do so with ease, not a contested battle, but a one sided beatdown, in and out, pop off some combo's as you have a target with no defence and is rather inaccurate.
