I'm not sure if Margarito in the rematch, I think he would have a good chance, but don't know if he could. And even if he does get by Margarito, he would then have to get by Paul Williams which is no easy task in itself. And also, there's Joshua Clottey. I don't know if he could beat all 3 of those guys, could he? I think so, but it's no gimme.

OK, you have a fair point but people claim Trinidad is the best when he didnt accomplish great things like Ortiz.

Depends on how the Margarito loss effects him IMO. If he comes back gunshy and with a lack of confidence and killer instinct I'd say no...but if can manage to learn from the loss and come back stronger than yes. Being undefeated don't mean dck to me. Its about challenging yourself and fighting the best. Cotto has done that so he has my respect.

only time and dedication to the sport will tell. A loss like that takes a lot out of you. He has to have the same hunger he had before, but even more. he would have to beat margo in a rematch, beat williams, berto, clottey, cintron etc... Not to say he can't, but is his heart in it? Sometimes money is all it takes and boxing isn't everything.

    Think about it...

No shame in that, Margarito is a beast.

I mean Gomez is another Cotto will struggle to surpass.

To clean up at 147 he needs to beat Margo and Williams and then probably one of Clottey/Berto. Forget all the other contenders like Cintron, Collazo etc, they will do nothing to enhance his resume on an ATG standing.

The fact is the likes of Margo and PW, while very good fighters in this day and age, don't compare to the likes of Duilio Loi, Nicolino Locche, Ismael Laguna who Ortiz all beat.

Thats true but it aint Cotto's fault. I think if he dominates the division for a while he should be considered among the Gomez's and the Ortiz's. :good

I find it very hard to see cotto being the greatest puerto rican however if he cleans out 147 beats margarito convincely and most importantly gets mayweather out of retirement and beats him he's in the argument for it, i don't think he has the ability to do that all that though so its a mute point

    Well said!!!

All of those on the Margie bandwagon forget he has FIVE losses.

Cotto has one and it came on a bad night for him....if you saw him posing with the Las Vegas chicks the night before.
He lost focus and overestimated Margie...it won't happen again and
    Margie knows it.

Cotto is already requesting the rematch....and also stated that
he started with Evangelista and he will remain his trainer....issues
between the two have been resolved.

Like the other guy said he beat six HOF. I actually think Gomez has a better right to be the best than Trinidad.
