If he can clean up the division and is great at 126 and 130 he can.

Yes, Cotto can conceivably become the greatest PR fighter ever, still. He's one massive step toward that aim beating Margarito in a rematch. Then he could take out X, Y, and Z fighters and he's in business. Anything can happen, that's why this is the best sport on Earth.

Don't pay no attention to Sweet Pea he is a very good poster but is one of the most nostalgic posters in ESB it's impossible for a modern day fighter to possibly surpass a HOF/ATG according to Sweet Pea, though he won't admit he feels that way.

It depends on how he comes back, who he beats and how... From my point of view, if he comes back and beats, Berto, PW, Cintron, Margo (convincingly and it will probably have to happen 2 more times for a trilogy) and last but not least, get PBF out of retirement and beats him as well.... if he does all that, then we can have not only a conversation but a coronation of such title. What do you guys think?

You know... I am almost believing this... if he beats Izzy convincingly I would totally give him the respect as the modern Wilfredo Gomez. I can't wait to see him in his future!

I know... I really love his skills but I hate his heart at the WW division that is... Honestly, I don't think it's about money in this case, he can make all the money he wants/needs against Margo, PW & Cotto... I honestly think that at this point he has enough $$$ and that he is protecting his 0.

He'll be hard pressed to do so. Cotto is going on 28. For a guy of his style, that's not that young. He's aslo not that big of a guy. He'll have a hard time with larger Welters and would need to be carefully matched if he ever decided to go to 154. I don't know a lot about PR fighters from the past. So I'll just stick to a guy I know, Trinidad. Tito was a legitimate 3 division champ, and beat some damn good fighters along the way. Cotto has yet to win 1 legit title(he has two paper titles to his name), and while his resume is solid, it's not as good as Tito's was at about that age. IMO, he'll have a hard time matching or exceeding Tito's accomplishments.

You know... I almost agree with you. I'll like to give him a chance since I believe that he still young and has a lot of boxing left in him... Let's just come back to your thought when he is done and revisit your statement.
