How can you say that when he started boxing real late in life an considering that he is peaking at an age when most fighters are fading
Yey he is Martinez didnt start boxing till he was like 21.. He started for the training i believe he was a Soccer player or Cyclist before??? And it showed hes like twice the fighter he was when he kod by Margarito years ago... Hes improved in the last couple years, so yeah if thats not a late bloomer i dont know what is..... Also i am aware hes been pro awhile and fought in Argentina and Spain for years but that still dont take away from the fact he started boxing late... Most of the top fighters have been fighting since they were little kids or young teens.
He turned pro at 22 that is not a late start in pro boxing... just because he lost to margarito doesnt mean he wasnt as good then and remmeber margo was probably packing heavy gloves so is understanble :hat
Actually i saw that fight live and Martinez did give him a tough time early but Margo wore him down ( undercard of Barrera-Morales I) Martinez had some talent but was inexperienced and not the same fighter he is today... As for Margo ive been watching him since early in his career (when he was a teenager) and hes always been a puncher with a style to beat you down and take your hear ( im sure he wasnt packing then or ever was) but thats another topic... As for your statement on turning pro at 22. Your right thats not old if you have an amatuer background, but he had only started training a year before that so he was basically learning on the job. Thats ridiculously old to start and be succesful.
he had over 40 amateur fights.. thats enough fights if you look at pro fighters a lot of the great ones had shorter careers in the amateurs.. and most fighters that turn pro young are learning on the job that's why they need over 40 pro fights before they fight anybody worth mentioning.. :hat
Hes wrong i can end this argument now.. How many pro fighterrs have you know of Puerto Riccane that learned how to box at 21 and went on tho win world titles? Carlos Palomino and Ken Norton come to mind (but they started at 18 when joining the service (vietnam) Other than that its very rare and believe me theres been countless u just dont hear of them cause they never make it. I think Bonecrusher Smith might be another one. I thik Nate Campbell too but i think he even boxed as a kid after a long lay off.
The most recent is my good friend Giovani Segura who had 19 amateur fights and he is not a great yet so who the hell is he talking about
If im not mistaken i think Dwight Muhamad Qawi learned to box in prison and had only a couple amatuer figts. How old was Segura when he started fighting?? I know of quite a few champs with not that many amatuer fights, but heres the catch they still were training since they were kids, they just didnt have alot of sanctioned fights... Chicanito Hernandez only had a couple fights but hes been in the sport since he was a kid.... There are certain Greats that didnt have long amatuer boxing career (and some none at all).. like Duran,Chavez and a lot of other great Mexican fighters but they turned pro as teenagers.
Wilfredo Vazques Jr. he had cero amateur fights and he's world champion right now... yeah you really ended the argument.. thanks I said many great boxers had few amateur fights, you dont need 100 fights to learn how to box. You learn to box on the gym trianing and sparring. Fights are only to give you expirience practicing what you learned. If you over do it all you are doing is burning yourself out and putting wear and tear on your body. :hat
atsch WTF do yo have a problem reading Ingles? Thats what just said i mentioned Duran,Chavez, and Chicanito who i mentioned trained he was a kid but only had like one amater fight.... And as you can tell by his style he was well schooled without having that many sanctioned fights.. And yey i have been around i boxed off and on since i was a kid until my early 20s and i didnt have that many amatuer fights. Well i know you build up your skills in the gym, but having experience counts for alot more than your saying, thats pretty much a known factii to most boxing fans.
You're contradicting yourself, you first say im wrong and wow you are agreeing with me, make up your mind cause you're not making any sense :hat
