Cotto has boxed more against bigger and heavy punch opponents. I think that he will find out that Floyd is not a heavy puncher. Do you think that he can turn back the clock to his 140lbs days style and be more effective?
If by that you mean: getting hurt easier and actually being less effective? Then yeah, he'll probably do that. 147 is the weight you should have picked. And no, I don't think he can turn back the clock for that. It will, however, be very interesting to see what kind of strategy he'll try to employ. Because it definitely won't involve him being the aggressive powerhouse of a few years ago.
cotto's best weight is at WW. cotto is good at LWW but he is having some resistance problems and seems like he he hurt more when being hit hard than he was at WW.
no. would love to see it, but no. i've been a cotto fan for a long, long time...but i actually expect this to be just another day at the office for mayweather. never thought i'd say that about cotto. wouldnt surprise me if its a pretty boring, one sided affair. i can't ****ing stand mayweather
LWW was not his best weight This content is protected Look at him ffs. JMW is a good weight for him. Wont have to focus so much on making weight.
Yes. Cotto is a great, and stands about as good a chance against Floyd as anyone else you could put him (Floyd) in a ring with. He might not get the win, but it shouldn't come as a huge surprise if he does.
It's not Floyd's power and size that will do COtto(e) in. No way. Cotto(e) style isn't the best suited for trying Mayweather.
At Jr. welter Cotto was draining himself and his punch resistance was very low because of it. However, he was a beast at Jr. welter because he was so much physically stronger. I remember Cotto busting up some boxers pretty bad at Jr. welter, he was like a wrecking ball. He has not had that luxury in some time now, it will be interesting to see who has the strength advantage going into this fight? Also, how much respect will Cotto give to Floyd's punching power? These two factors IMO need to favor Cotto or it really limits his chances.
Yep, he looked like a corpse at weigh-in, and would re-hydrate to a full blown welter come fight night. :yikes
To answer your question "yes" I think he could be more effective doing some of the things he did earlier in career the problem I have is the fact that he got hurt often. I can't see him winning this fight if he gets hurt "at all".
Thought you were saying "turn back the clock" as in Floyd being a young child, in turn giving him a chance to win...my bad. Either way, nah not really.
