Cruiserweight Yoan Pablo Hernandez 25(13)-1(1)-0 vs Steve Cunningham 24(12)-3-0 - IBF cruiserweight title

The first fight back in October 2011 ended in the 6th with Hernandez claiming the belt via Technical Decision. The Fight was stopped due to a Hernandez cut caused by a headbutt, Cunningham down once in round one.

Judges scores at the time of the stoppage: Dave Parris 58-55 | judge: Pawel Kardyni 59-54 | judge: Howard John Foster 56-57. 2 in favour of Hernandez, 1 in favour of Cunningham.

Neither man has fought since, so we are getting a straight rematch. How do you see this one going?

Would not get outside of Germany anyway, since they are both with Sauerland.

He can either gain revenge or get KTFO.

It depends on what lessons each man learned from last time.

    hopefully not

Cunningham has become one of the biggest disappointments in the sport today. He was a big favorite of mine after the Huck fight but his consistent inactivity since then has me smh whenever he gets mentioned. In fact huck's career has overlapped Cunningham's career since then as well. I dont want cunningham to be relevant anymore and hope hernandez finishes his career for good.

Uh...he's been more prominent in the spotlight simply by way of remaining more active, sure - but I don't know that it can be said he's had a better career.

Other than Lebedev (against whom he got a gift) his cruiserweight reign was a joke. The punchline is that he's now moving up to get his ass kicked at heavyweight having never had a single convincing high-quality win at CW with a world title on the line. The closest is maybe Afolabi who has since improved by leaps and bounds, but the non-title win over Tokarev back in '07 probably remains Huck's career high point.

i agree, i was a big fan too but to hear people talk about him as some kind of all time great is comical. he gets dropped way too many times. he has only 7 title fights 4 years. going 4-3. 2 of the wins agains Ross and Licina who have pretty much accomplished nothing at cruiserweight.
I hope he wins and becomes active, but i dont see it happening

Don't know that I ever heard any ATG talk, but what happened was he basically went from the clear #1 to the somewhat unclear #1. It got divisive, with some people on one side saying "well there's nobody who has emerged to supplant him that is demonstrably better. He's still the best cruiserweight h2h..." and folks on the other side saying "**** h2h. Where the hell is this guy? You can't just be #1 emeritus, that's bull****".

It boils down to CW basically being a ****-weak division over the last ten years, and pretty much right up to the present.

Even if you accept that USS has been the best over the last several, well - big whoop. #1 in a **** division.

If he can stay the heck away from big punches, he can break down Hernandez over 12 rounds.

I think Cunningham wins. In the last fight it seemed evident to me, that Cunningham was taking over the fight. In my opinion, Hernandez has to score an early knockout or he loses.

    true dat.
i like alot of people hate to see one guy with a string of IBF defenses, another guy with a string of WBO title defenses, another guy with a sting of WBC fight and another with the WBA...and if the 4 best NEVER fight each other, then you really find out how weak the challengers will be...
