Looking at the hold Frank Warren alledgedly has over the media then yes he can, because there will be little criticism from the press and very few people will know the score.
Degale has simply developed faster as a pro than Groves and my prediction that it will be an easy fight is not reflective on how I feel Groves' career will work out. Groves will be a very successful boxer and I can see him win a significant title down the line, but he is not ready for a Degale fight at the moment whilst Degale is more than ready for a Groves fight.
how would groves have faired against smith??? would he have looked as good as chunky?? i dont think he would, he nearly made an arse out of himself last time out against anderson.
This is a way of camp booth/groves/hayemaker making groves look like the bigger man without fighting. Fw bud what he thought the fight was worth. 400k is massive. Astute move by them. I think they have an idea their boy would be on a bit of trouble against degale at this stage taking into account groves nearly ****ing it all up against Anderson. I don't see this happening, although it should
Anderson is a fat better opponent than Smith. I think Groves vs Smith would have been more competative but Groves would have stopped him quicker.
if he turns it down he should never live it down, talkin all this b/s,and then ducking away for a way early shot at some no name "champion". he needs more experience before bigger title shots, and theres a lot of money and exposure to gain from this fight,if he thinks its so easy why not fight this, then go for the title.
groves as got a shakey chin, and its true degale looks great when hes in control, but when someones fighting him back he dont look to comfortable,i remember seeing the late darren sutherland taken him apart a few times.
I cant accept this explanation. You dont put half a million up for a fight like this knowing that there is a massive risk Warren will call your bluff. Even for Hayemaker half a million pounds is a lot of money
I agree with you. I don't know why, but I have just never felt like this fight was going to happen. Real shame, as it would be a great fight, but I don't think that Hayemaker won expecting it to go ahead. Maybe they did not want Warren to be able to win and then put unreasonable terms to them, so they secured the purse bid win to take away an opportunity for excuses from Warren's side? I really, really hope it happens, I like groves but think he would lose it, but I just don't see it. Reminds me of Macklin-Barker - really wanted that but never feel we're going to get it, for various minor reasons all adding up.
Win the WBA joke strap and he and Groves make much more money. Degale picks him apart with ease, Booths odd decision to have Groves apeing Hayes (very dangerous for Groves as he lacks the reflexes to pull it off) style will see him go nowhere IMO.
