Can Nonito Donaire be the next Manny Pacquiao? Their careers are pretty similar. Pacquiao started at Flyweight and so did Donaire. Pacquiao has risen all the way now to 147 and now Donaire is starting to make that same climb. Both have absolutely dominated their weight classes they have fought at. Donaire is at 126 but his frame is actually much bigger than Pacquiao's so Donaire can easily add more weight and muscle. I suspect that when Pacquiao finally retires, Donaire will take over his fan base and be HBO and Top Rank's biggest star.

The same Phonaire who got schooled by Rigo and now running like a chicken after all that talking? Donaire won't make it out of 126. He's no longer the drain weight champ, he has to fight guys that are his size.

So you don't think he can add muscle to his frame?

I think Donaire can still be a huge star, he got beat by a great fighter in Rigo and had him on the deck, some fans seem to think once you lose a fight that you are finished. There is no shame losing to Rigondeaux, I would even give Donaire a good chance in a rematch.

The Pacman comparison is unfair. That'd be like comparing every black fighter to Ray Robinson every time they had success.

He will never be Pacquiao, and that's OK. He'll be Donaire, and that's good.

Doesn't matter. He was beating smaller guys. That was his skill. Muscle slows you down, takes more oxygen unless you're taking PEDs.

I agree, Donaire has a bright future ahead of him.

Depends on how he bounces back from the Rigondeaux set back.

For the record, I thought he got so much wrong in that fight (training, focus, gameplan, taking Rigo too lightly, etc) that he could correct in a rematch, I'd put a cheeky bet on him to destroy Rigondeaux (not with a great deal of confidence mind).

Donaire did not train much for the Rigo fight, so he deserved to lose. If he fights Darchinyan like he did Rigo he will lost that one also.

rigo beats him 10 out of 10 times. he's just too good for him. if i'm donaire, go back to acting like he doesn't exist and let bob keep picking corpses for you to beat up on. maybe they can rematch montiel and arce after darchinyan?

no offense but i find that incredibly hard to believe....

this was the fight we all wanted to see, donaire spoke MAD **** via his fb and in interviews about rigo and his style.. saying he would be easy work, so when the fight FINALLY gets made you dont think donaire wants to put his money where his mouth is and prove he was UNDISPUTED king of the division

after rigo there was really no one left (at the time mares was suggested but that fight could not be made due to TR/GB issues).
