At 33 with Roger Mayweather as a trainer and fighting mostly out of Australia.Sure he has some skills, but they have diminished over the years, sure he has some speed, but it has diminished, his punch resistance isn't the same.He said he would want a shot at the 140 lb title. How do you see him against the current WBO champ Kendall Holt(cuz he is trying to get to the WBO)
Holt is too quick, too skilled and too powerful. The only question mark is his chin, and I don't think Augustus can dent it.
He's a super character, an enjoyable fighter to watch and very likeable and popular. But it's far, far too late.
The kid has skills. If he trained under Roger Mayweather for a sustained period, and put his all into it, I'm confident he could of picked up an alphabet belt. But realistically now, it's too late for him too change, he's declining and 140 is looking pretty strong at the moment. I don't think he can even get himself into the position to challenge for a title, let alone win one.
I don't think Augustus has enough left to beat any of the current beltholders at 140 and I don't think he was ever good enough to be a champion. He has an entertaining style, but there is a reason he has 29 losses, and it's not all bad matchmaking or robberies.
Well if he gets some more wins the WBO sai thaey will rank him in top 15 for the moment.Roger is in Australia training him or are they in the States I wonder?Anyway there is a movie that will come up about his career, life and follows him till he wins a title or retires,it will be called ''The Journeyman''.Hope he wins a title
i think he should get awarded a title shot but winning one is entirely different a big major payday to send him out on. he has shown interest to be a trainer (and forget the antics he can be "orthodox" and box pretty effectivly) augustus has a very good left hook and if he pressures holt effectivly then maybe hotl will gas..thats a hope a wing and a prayer but still i think holt coudl be beaten by augie
