Haye is a fast fighter but I suspect his chin is not great, and if Evander could weather the storm he might be able to stop Haye. Yet for Evander to do that he would have to take the Haye right hand, and that would be tough.

holyfield still has something left in the tank,as long as the gas tank is not empty he has a chance, when he steps in the ring the tank must continue to burn which may in fact enable him to regain the lucrative title against the fighters in this waretered down division, with holyfields suberb conditioning habits and his well coordinated boxing skills even as he begins to age his gas tank seems to still have fuel in it,me for one am a huge holyfield fan and i will be routeing for him if he decides to keep fighting and make a run for the belt that seems to have been eluding him for the last couple of years:think

He might have been planning to keep himself busy fighting nobodies till Klitschko retire, I don't give him a big chance fighting for the vacant titles against younger, hungrier lions, but at least he has more chance than fighting Klitschko...

Sad, really sad to throw away such a good legacy to hunt pipe dreams...

Huh? We must have been watching different fights. Valuev never, ever had Holyfield in trouble. Did he even land any flush shots on Holyfield?

The was a sizeable gulf in ability between RJJ and Ruiz though.

All the HW champs are a step above the contenders. Holyfield, in reality, is a C- or D+ level fighter at best now, he would struggle against a ranked contender. Time hasn't been kind to him. He is no Cinderella Man or B-Hop. He is an ageing warrior whose skills were diminished some 10 years ago.

He has regressed massively since then.

I recently rewatched the fight for a second time with no commentary, which I like to do to get a better impression of a fight. Valuev DID pin Evander to the ropes twice in the later rounds and the fact that you and most people forgot that shows what I mean, Evander gets so much sentimental credit because he did well and most people wanted him to win.

Maybe beats Haye and thats a big maybe, no chance against either brother now. Its amazing to see him keeping in the shape he has done but i think hes winding down now and is slow enough to catch.

In two years if the Klitschko's still reign, Holy has absolutely no chance. Even Haye would blast him out.

The heavyweight division is no longer Holyfield's playground, he just hasn't accepted it yet.

its possible but it would have to be under the right circumstances and it wouldnt be a linear or undisputed or ring championship.

Wladimir will still be the main guy. Vitali is probably going to retire so that belt will be vacant. Someone really weak would have to get that belt or Wlad looses a belt if he doesnt defend it ect.

So absolutely he could get it but it would have to be a really weak opponent and it wouldnt match Foreman's legit KO win to get the linear title.

Probably not. Haye is the only chance he has of beating to become champion. But Haye would beat him by UD most likely.

    Yes.

If by "champion" you mean belt holder.

If someone unified he could possibly become champion.

I'll dumb this down for ESB:

    It is not likely

The stars would have to be aligned perfectly for Holyfield to be champion again.
They were aligned that night he beat Valuev, but boxing politics took it from him, what a suprise heh?

The stars aligned like Shannon Briggs hitting the jackpot and knocking out Vitali with a lucky shot.......I'd put my money on Holyfield to become Heavyweight champion of the world again against Shannon Briggs.
