    Wow.

Henry was the best fighter in the world from fw to mw.

I'm away from my computer at the moment but if you actually look at his opponents he's beaten something like 40 ranked opponents.

He was robbed against ambers in the rematch and for a while he genuinely simultaneously reigned over lw and ww.

Watch him against barney ross in one of the greatest filmed performances in history.

I was waiting for you to come in to discuss this. I'm being honestly curious, I just want to know what makes Armstrong so great, since fighters that old tend to be very difficult to find fights of, are usually overrated (IMO) and their records have many fights that can't be confirmed or that have controversial reports, so if you (or anyone else) could shed some light on this it would be great.

Who are these 40 ranked opponents and by who were they ranked (the RING I guess?) When did he fight at MW (since BoxRec at least doesn't have any of his fights taking place at MW)?

Nothing Floyd can do at this point in his career will get him even remotely close to Armstrong, this thread is ******ed.

agreed, these guys really need the pay day is what they need

Floyd retired in 07 after Hatton and everyone said he was great

why would he no longer be great and have to beat Manny to be considered great again

plus Manny earned greatness when Floyd was retired Oscar, Hatton, Morales, Barrera, Marquez that resume is pretty damn great already

i like your robinson comparison its like all the ppl who said dempsey avoided wills but in reality he had a great list of scalps already

and to the OP no Floyd can never reach Armstrong who is top 10 and no current fighter is even top 20 those ranks to me are cemented permanently boxing is just too damn different, back then it was 1 title less weights, you fought more, etc

The best starting place is to watch the his fight against ross on youtube, with a specific emphasis to how good his defence actually was. He barely takes a punch against the reigning ww champ who, himself, is certainly a top 30 atg.

There is a thread somewhere on this website were a poster listed them all. I have parents evening tonight so won't have time to dig it out myself but i'll come back to you on it.

You need to appreciate the history of the mw division. He fought ceferino garcia to a robbery draw (available on youtube for you to judge yourself). In the 30's the best two mw's for a long time were thil and steele, despite a few political issues apostoli knocked them both out to stake his claim as the best mw in the world. He lost to corbett3 before rematching him successfully. He then got stopped by garcia who soon fought armstrong.

He defended his title at ww 17 times although some of them were glorified lw fights.

Alright, I'll watch those fights and try to find that thread through google, then we'll discuss this further.
