the road to greatest is paved out in front of carl the cobra. he has 4 maybe 5 fights ahead of him and if he wins all of them which is feasable but very dificult, he will surely go down in history as a great of the sport. first beats glenn johnson UD in a tough fight, then shocks the world and out works andre ward to take the super six touney, then a unification bout against lucian bute. carl imposes his power against bute who isn't able to bring the goods in his first step up in class. then froch moves up to face chad dawson for the light heavey weight crown. chad gets out hussled just like the pascal fight and carl is light heavey champ of the world and goes down in history as an atg and a true warrior of the sport. carl froch 31-1 wins over: dawson bute ward johnson abraham dirrell taylor pascal
I think so. I don't see anyone in his weight class having any easy time stopping him. Even Ward will have great difficulty beating him. He is a very very tough fighter who will likely be an ATG when all is said and done. He has all the tools and while he might not use his technical skills, he has proven he has them when he chooses to box. Next to Ward I think he is the second best fighter in the division.
He already has a chance at getting in the HOF, but I dunno, unless he pulls some serious **** before he hangs 'em up, IMHO I don't think he should be considered a ATG. As of now.
Froch gets ridiculed sometimes on here because of his obvious flaws and therefore gets labled a clown or ko waiting to happen, yet he has a very good resume already, has the biggest balls in boxing alongside cotto in my opinion and as he showed vs abraham he can really box. I definitely am rooting for him to win the s6 and achieve great wins. I cant picture him beating daswon though and I think he would have a rough night vs ward and bute, but he is capable for sure.
Froch will be remembered kindly throughout the years, unlike Calzaghe. Beating Ward and Bute would seal it for me. Anything else would be the icing on the cake. I think he's knocking on the door of the HOF for sure. A Glen Johnson win would tell us a lot about him, for this I'm glad it's not looking likely to be in the UK, so Froch doesn't try too much for a knockout against Glen. Outboxing him would be a great achievement.
I don't even think he has to do all that. He has to finish the tournament, win or lose he already has put himself in second place in the tournament. If he then can win a title in the next weight class, he will be a potential ATG due to the fighters he has already beaten. His resume is already the strongest in the division he is in, if he goes up and weight and does something similar then he is an ATG. He wouldn't rank in the top 50, but he would be in the top 100. To be in the top 50 he would have to go all the way up to cruiserweight and win a title. To be in the top 20 he will have to go up to heavyweight. I think he can at least be a multiple weight champion as he is as good of a fighter as Andre Ward and we are all certain that Andre Ward is going to be an ATG just based on the way he is beating everyone.
already hof material. road to greatness incorporates winning the s6 and beating the winner of bute/kessler. then going up to lhw and making some noise there with victories over dawson, pascal, cloud and probably cleverly beofre retiring.
It's shocking that he still has such a low profile, especially in the UK. I admit that he was below my radar until Pascal but I just assumed he was a semi-skilled loudmouth with the constant calling out of Calzaghe. No excuses now though, he should be a superstar, in the UK at least anyways. As much as I like to see British boxers do well, Haye, Khan etc aren't fit to lick his jockstrap.
yeah i was being a bit vitreolic but still the mans a star. the thing is though he is skating on thin ice cus although he has 4 great wins he could still slip from people memories if he starts losing. a loss against ward would leave him in a tough situation. do you carry on fighting for your reputation or do you cut your losses and retire with 2 defeats and 5 great wins? he will either be an atg or similar to someone like shane mosley.
Yo, check it, they called him "Wimpy" but he was anything but, he's gonna un-retire to take a piece of Cobra's butt. What what?
