I'd be shocked if it happened. While Bivol beating Canelo was an upset it wasn't a big shock to me, stylistically he was problematic for Canelo and I don't feel Fulton has a style that will really cause Inoue too many problems.

I don't think the comparisons work well for Fulton. From a strictly boxing point of view, meaning not power or experience, Fulton is not as good a boxer as Bivol is and Inoue is a considerably better boxer than Alvarez. I don't think Cool Boy Steph has the stylistic skill level to keep the Monster off of him.

That being said, I really hope this fight actually happens!

The smart bet is Fulton over Inoue, this Inuoe 4th division that’s not something easy to do and vs a prime unified highly skilled champion.. more than likely Fulton takes that boy to school, weight classes exist for a reason

Size difference at the lighter weights isn't as bigger factor also Bivol has elite skills

Bivol beating Canelo was no shock, it was very easy to see he would do so.

Bivol is bigger than GGG and just as good in many elements of boxing and most importantly Bivol has even better footwork and a very comparable jab.

That's all someone needs to beat Canelo (with fair judges) which neither guy got

That maybe was true once but with the proliferation of world titles and weight divisions it's not such a difficult task to achieve in this era. There are now 21 boxers who have won world titles in 4 weight divisions. Most of them in the last decade or so. So that's like an average of over 1 boxer winning a title in a 4th division every year.

Also factor in that Inoue has outgrown 118lbs as he failed to make weight at the first attempt in his last fight, he'll be a full fledged 122lber when he moves up.

Absolutely not, Fulton's power is woefully inadequate, his jab and combinations aren't sharp and punishing, and his defense is far too porous. Also, his chin doesn't seem spectacular. He has nothing to keep Inoue off of him. Unlike Bivol who packs a spiteful stiff vicious punishing jab and lightning quick one twos, which have enough pop to give his opponents pause. His high guard defense may seem like nothing special, but clearly he knows how to adequately utilize it to its fullest extent. Bivol can stand in front of someone like Canelo and box their ears off, his control of range is that immaculate. Whereas Fulton has a tendency to box ultra negatively sliding along the ropes always on the back foot, never sitting down on any of his shots or generating any real power behind them. Inoue cuts off the ring far too well for that to be a problem for him. He'll do the same that Leo, Khegai and Figueroa did, only far more effectively, due to his power, accuracy and far more advanced punch selection.

bro it’s about 16 boxers who have won titles in 4 divisions, guys like AB not 4-weight champs interim and JV titles don’t make you a champion it just makes you the highest rated mandatory

Fulton is not that good. Bivol is a far superior fighter to him. The only reason he has a chance against Inoue is because when you keep moving up in weight and fighting the best at those weights eventually size will get you. But Inoue was rehydrating 13lbs at 118 for his first fight at the weight and I've never seen anything to suggest Fulton is rehydrating more than that at 122. He could be but I expect Inoue to be bigger at 122 than he was at 118 too. Fulton has a 3'' longer reach than him but it's not like he's going to weigh two or three divisions heaver than him on the night.

They said the same about Bivol being so much bigger than Clenelo beforehand too but I told you all the weight difference betweem them would be far less than many were predicting it was going to be and of course I was right. It was 3-5lbs absolute max.

The only things which concern me about this fight are Inoue suffering from moving up that one division too far which is a very real possibility, and we even see this with weight bullies who've moved up and started fighting world class opponents and champions their own size, let alone bigger ones, and him struggling the first time he fought a slickster in his last fight against Butler which Fulton obviously noticed too. Hence why he decided to put the move up in weight on hold for one more fight.

Sure Butler fought negatively but that kind of performance will book you a place in the Hall of Fame if you're from across the pond so if Fulton can follow the blueprint Bulter laid out and just be a bit less negative Inoue might look lost and devoid of ideas again.

Interesting note on the jab comparison with G and Bivol. I say Bivol has a better jab in the sense that he uses it better to disrupt the opponent offense. G's jab is better when he uses it to bust his opponent up and soften them up for the kill. Both very excellent jabbers.
