He can be 10 lbs lighter. Mentally, he can do without being a showboat. A fit, focused Fury is almost impossible to beat.
Staminawise yes. He looked a bit heavy on his feet and sloppy with his slips and roles by his own standard. Stamina affects movement.
No question about it. Let's not kid ourselves that was Tyson Fury at only 50% of maximum capacity last night due to the inactivity, everything he's been through and the abuse he's put his body through. What he was trying to accomplish and miraculously actually achieved is akin to a 75 y/o old man coming straight out of hospital after having a triple bypass and running a marathon and then scaling the North face of Everest with a 50lb backpack on immediately afterwards.
How? His stamina was superb for a fighter his size. He took Wilders best punches and got up. Perhaps he could be in better shape but if there is another rung to his conditioning it is difficult to imagine.
Yes he can get in better shape, whether he will or not is debatable but if he has the desire to get his weight lower then he could do it and he'd benefit from it. He was 9lbs heavier than the Wlad fight, so he can be lighter and faster and have better stamina. I think he slowed a little from round 8 onwards. He was moving less and trying to roll with the right hand instead of moving away from it like in the earlier rounds. If this change of strategy was down to needing to conserve energy then a lighter, fitter Fury will shut out Wilder in the rematch.
That would be his career low weight. Fury lost over 140lbs or something, he will never have a six pac because of it. He will always have those love handles, even if he was to starve himself. Fury had no stamina issues and in fact, it looked like he was in better shape than Wilder, who clearly gassed in the later rounds. Fury might end loose a few more pounds but it will do absolutely nothing for him. What will serve him well is to stay in the gym and keep getting sharper.
Would have been interesting if he could have made his Klitschko weight. Will probably never know now. Next time he fights Wilder, he'll probably be even fatter. Can't see him resisting the temptation of the mince pies, and booze Christmas time.
