Can Gamboa turn back the clock against Tank Davis like Donaire?

What do you think, does Gamboa have one last good performance in him against a young prime KO artist like Davis and gives him a tougher fight than expected? It would be interesting to see if he's able to pull off what Donaire did by turning back the clock and give Tank absolute hell until the final bell.

As much as I want to see Gamboa fight his heart out till the end the big difference would be his chin and recklessness. It would be a huge surprise if he makes it to the distance without getting dropped.

A lot of those cuban guys lose their drive once they make it to the states. I suspect thats at least a factor in why gamboa has fallen off the map. I don't know if its there for him anymore.

On the other hand, Tanks a young brother looking to strike it out on his own and make a name for himself. He was ts that big fight with Loma, and if it means he has to go through Gamboa first then so be it

No. Gamboa never worked on his fundamentals and without his reflexes, he's just a fast-moving punching bag at this point. Gamboa's defense is porous and he will eat a lot of punches against Davis. He should have lost against Sosa... he got a gift there. Donaire had a solid foundation as a counter puncher and he was defensively responsible.

Gamboa's best chance is in the first 4 rounds. He still have enough speed to surprise people and catch people off-guard. After that, he's a sitting duck.

He's fighting a very big puncher albeit a fellow leprechaun, has been dropped in about 10 of his fights, has only stopped 2 of his 10 opponents up at 135 one of whom was shot and had only fought once in over three years, and had he not won a gift over Jason Sosa he would currently be 3-2 in his last five fights and one of those three wins was a MD. Donaire has an iron chin, Gamboa was packing glass up top from birth.

He's getting KTFO early. Glass chin and past prime are not a good combo. Donaire possesses an iron jaw.

I don't think so. I don't believe he has the drive Donaire had.

Also not as tough and has a different style than Donaire. I think Gamboa was a great talent but not one father time has been kind to. The power is still there and there's some flashes so you never know... But I doubt it.

are you really comparing Donaire with Gamboa? Donair is a true warrior who was on a tear, win streak before the Inoue fight. Gamboa is shot, largely inactive and has not looked good in a long time. There is no comparison. Tank chose Gamboa to get an easy KO and a big name on his resume. It’s a nothing fight for a guy who seems to only choose nothing fights. This does nothing for Tank other than give him a quick and easy paycheck. He’s a young guy wasting his prime. A pathetic, mumbly punk who calls out big names but fights bums exclusively these days.

Two things we can count on, Tank will KO the shot ghost of Gamboa and his fans will go crazy. Can’t wait to hear Tank’s fans accuse Taylor of ducking him.

He seemed like the type to rely on natural athleticism and ability, rather then being a student of the game. Probably why he peaked years ago and never came close to the potential people saw.

Anything is possible. Gamboa has fast hands and decent power. I highly doubt it. Tank should stop him around 6.

Donaire turned back the clock?? He looked bad, only reason he lasted 12 rounds was because we overrated Naoya power, probably might be because of the weight tho.

My complain about Gamboa is that his defense is weak and inconsistent. Despite of his high technical level, great power and speed, he does not really fight wisely.

Davis, at this point, has considerably higher chance to beat him.

Anyway, Donaire >>>> Gamboa. Donaire is a warrior and the way he respect his rivals and treat his family indicates him to have big fire to burn inside.
