Can Garcia beat Thurman in a rematch?

If Thurman doesn't come to fight but to run then Gracia will lose the fight again.

 

No way Garcia has not fought the level of competition to beat Thurman. He needs to go fight solid contenders then he will have a good shot. Malignaggi, Guerrero and Vargas do not prepare you for Thurman.

 

Thurman threw more and outlanded Garcia 'whilst running'. Garcia was the one with his hands in his pocket.

 

Anything is possible, Thurman only ran because he knew he was ahead enough on the cards to warrant giving up a few rounds. Danny only started to come on stronger when thruman was running, When thurman was throwing that right hand in the earlier rounds and it was landing danny was hesitant to let his own hands go and became stiff and up tight in anticipation of it, He only started pressing the fight when he noticed thurman was running and thus the right hand was no longer such a threat. Thurman could have pressed the entire fight like he did the first half but choose not to, to play it safe and not take any risks. It was not a case of danny making adjustments and thus winning some late rounds by getting into the fight, he got into the fight late because Thurman let him.

Danny needs to make adjustments for a rematch to win, Can he do it? i don't see why not danny is great fighter no doubt i believe he has the ability, but boxing is just as mental as it is physical, I saw Danny start to doubt him self in that fight and once doubt sets in you make mistakes, you become stiff, uptight and loose the ability to flow and that's what lost him the fight imo, not his skills or conditioning, mentally Thurman has his number ealry, Those big shots he landed in the first couple likely made the biggest impact in that fight.

TBH I think a comeback fight against Jessie or Collazo is perfect for Danny.

 

What I saw was Thurman following his corner's instructions and just using his lead to box and play it safe the last few rounds. For what it's worth, I don't agree with that strategy as I have seen fighters lose because if it (ahem De La Hoya) but it certainly was a conscious decision that Keith and his team made and not a reaction to what Danny was doing. It was clear all night that when Keith was aggressive, Danny was very cautious and only wanted to just try for the big counter shot.

 

Yes, Keith went Oscar on us in rounds 10-12, but you are saying that applies to 9 also?

 

This fight wasn't nearly close enough and exciting enough to warrant a rematch. We'll never see one.

Best Garcia can do is work his way up the WBO rankings and line up to fight for the belt once Pacman vacates. Also could target IBF belt and try to get the winner of Spence / Brook down the line.

 

It was fairly close. No reason Garcia couldnt win.

 

Danny lost in every aspect, in trades early Keith showed he was superior.
He hurt Danny a couple of times, he showed faster handspeed and
far better defense. He showed better footwork. The only reason the
fight was perceived as close as it was, was because Keith's corner
told him to play it safe, it had nothing to do with Danny turning on
(he didn't). You can visibly see Keith turn down and box Danny, he was
never in distress at any point in time in that fight (not even how he was
against Porter at times, and Chaves). I literally don't know what fight
some of you guys were watching.

Keith wins even more convincing if they fight again.
