I'll be honest after the Zlaticinin KO I have always favoured Mikey in this matchup, punches too straight and too hard. However Loma is something special and he could well put on a clinic. I just feel now that Loma has that extra gear that we haven't even seen yet. I hope Loma fights Berchelt next to unify the titles and then goes to 135 for Mikey.
Garcia is good, very good, but no, he would be dealing with the Matrix. Until he slows down, Loma is for me as unbeatable a fighter as I've ever seen ! Some nonce is gonna reply with Salido cause their salty
Mikey is a big puncher, and very smart fighter. He does everything just about textbook perfect, while Loma is one of those special talents like Jones or Pac that rewrite the book, but still being very technically sound, which is rare with that much athleticism and being in his physical prime. Because while they may have been slightly more physically gifted, they were not nearly As technically sound at that stage. There were not many guys in history who had their physical peak and damn near perfect boxing iq coincide during the same time, that were as physically gifted as Loma is at this stage.
Willow the wisps Rigo & GRJ struggled to land! What's Garcia gunna do? Make it dirty? Rigo just tried that.. UD Loma.
Yes, he can, on paper at least. Mikey is one of the best in the world at sussing out an opponent and laying a trap for a big counter punch, and he's pretty damn good at winning those feeler rounds as well. That's exactly the kind of style/ability you need to beat Loma, as he looks damn near impossible to outbox right now. Not saying Mikey wins this though, there's a big difference between analysing an opponent and actually putting that analysis into effect. There's every chance Mikey fails to crack the enigma code and gets swarmed to a UD. Loma isn't predictable in the slightest so laying a trap will be very difficult.
Ask Salido who fought both. Garcia outclassed Salido. Loma got manhandled by Salido and lost. Garcia can't do anything to Loma? The fight went EXACTLY as I expected (except the quit job). The aftermath is as I predicted.
So do you think that is the same Loma that fought Salido? He came straight from the ams, had no idea about the dirty tactics of many pros. But I think he caught on how to combat dirty fighters very fast , so even though he lost to a dirty fighting low blowing, weight missing Siri.... He should thank him, that one loss in his second pro fight changed him from a great amateur into a great proffessional.
Reality check, he came from the pros to the pros. Selective memory. Tell us the difference WSB, EBU, NABF, WBC, WBA ... Heaven forbid, Loma had to fight someone who missed two pounds ... the irony boggles the mind. I've had Loma co-#1-P4P with Crawford for probably longer than anybody in this forum as soon as Ward retired. Above Rigo, Garcia, GGG and Kovalev. If he were to beat Garcia there is no doubt he is #1P4P. But that is not going to be as easy as fighting an old man, moving up two divisions. Do I think Loma is better? A bit, yes. But for the most part, this is the same Loma whom I said is once of a lifetime technical fighter like Rigo, Mayweather. He's already seen every style after being in over 400 matches.
Thing is, is that Loma has the IQ to do a "Hopkins" when his physical gifts leave him. He's like Roy Jones at the mo, but he'll end up like Hopkins. A physical beast now, but one that will have the smarts to carry him through for many years.
