Mikey walks him down. Loma does not have enough power to make Mikey respect him. Loma will out land him for the first 6 rounds but eventually Garcia will break through and start finding him with the straightright hands
Similar to the pros. More like a middle ground, low level fight league. The problem with missing weight was that it was a strategic move to gain a strength and size advantage over a guy without any real pro experience going into a 12 round fight . And yes he's gotten a lot better. The problem I had wth your post was with asking SirI who was better, when Salido hadn't fought an improved version of Loma that occurred after their fight. He was literally better by the end of that fight than he was when it started and that was because of the experience he gained and to not let a dirty fighter bully him and expect help from the ref. You were insinuating since Mikey beat Salido, and Salido best Loma Mikey was the better fighter. And yes Mikey will be his biggest and hardest fight. I'd say wth Loma being somewhere between a 2-1favorite to a pretty close to even match up.
We agree on advantages, ahem last night. My point in bringing up Salido was how easily Garcia handled him and how Salido manhandled Loma. Do I think Loma beats Salido now, of course. The thread is can Garcia do anything to Loma? YES based on what I saw with Salido. People just don't want to be reminded of that fight because they'll see all the hypocritical excuses like weight and size advantage (which don't seem to apply to Rigo). It's salty to bring up facts.
I'm thinking the opposite mate lol. But i'd prefer for you to be right. I think he is supremely gifted with speed and twitch muscles and once they fade he'll be susceptible, but like you say, he may have that string to his bow to carry on past prime.
Let’s be honest now Mikey will just ask for stupid money that he would never get just to avoid this fight and I’m a mikey fan but I call em how I see em.
Size and age both played a part last night, but it also highlighted Loma ability to just outmaneuvre Rico, and deal with his tactics. But the Salido fight has no bearing whatsoever on last nights fight or the hopefully upcoming Garcia fight. Last night was a dream matchup from their amateur accomplishments, but Rigo was 100% aware of the contracted weight , both men made it, and Loma didn't need low blows to slow him down.
The title of this thread is can Garcia do anything to Loma? The only common factor AFAIK between them is Salido. But don't bring up Salido?
Of course he can he's prime bigger can bang and is very fundamentally sound. He has a good chance. I've said this once I'll say it again Loma Garcia is the best fight that can be made in all of boxing.
Mikey would be clueless....this fight is a mythical matchup and Haymon will never do business with TopRank and see his investment exposed. Just look how Haymon/Garcia turned down GoldenBoy/Linares for a unification. They are going to milk him vs Figuero and Easter. They aren't risking him against any kind of speed or slickness. This is a pretty standard 118-110 type fight.
Of course Garcia is got a good shot, he's highly skilled with a high ring iq, and big power down at 135. But no the bull**** talk that Salido whooped Loma needs to stop. He won but didn't whoop ****, used every advantage, broke the rules and still was out on his feet in the 12th. And has refused a rematch ever since. I understand, that's gonna be his greatest win ever, and he knew that lightning wasn't gonna strike in the same place twice. So if he let Loma avenge that loss, his win wouldn't be quite as pretty.
His amateur record tells me everything you need to know about smarts, as he has faced every style going.
