Frankie, I'm going to put a big wedge on you to KO Mutley in the last round - can you hold off until then so I can get a decent payday? :think

Frank Warren said on February 19th in the Article entitled "Theophane running from Frankie"

"I'd love to make the Theophane fight next for Frankie. I believe that he's a precocious talent and is ready for Theophane or anybody else at light-welterweight."

"Frankie's win on Saturday night showed he is ready for anyone in Britain"

"I'd make the fight with Theophane in a heart-beat. Frankie is a world class talent, not just a British-level talent.

"He'll win the British title this year, but it will be just the first of many belts he is going to get in his career."

Ashley Theophane said on March 10th on the Bunce Hour.

"After I beat Lenny Daws the next day I got a call from Don Charles he said that Frank Warren wants to meet me. So I met Frank at his offices. Because Hennesey has options on me as British Champion so Frank asked me to vacate the title so Frankie Gavin can have it and I would go the WBO route. I was never offered a fight with Frankie Gavin I was offered an alternative route. I told them I would think about it because I always said I would win the British title and then vacate and I am a man of my word. But since then I saw what Frank Warren was saying that I am running from Frankie that I am scared. I have been sparring with good guys, beat former world champions and world numbers 3, I am the British Champion now so I am not scared of Frankie Gavin. Because they came out and said that I am scared, I am not scared and thats why I am keeping the title and if Frankie wants to fight me he can earn his way to fight me by winning an eliminator. He can earn a shot at me the same way I earned the shot at Lenny Daws."

"It de-values the title to vacate. Maybe I am going to be defending the British at the excel in June. I feel because he has the big promoter , because he has Frank Warren they can let Frankie jump the queue. I am Ashley Theophane and your not jumping the queue this time. I won an elimiantor 4 years ago and wasn't made mandatory that why I went to America because I was forced out."

Theophane isnt playing ball which in all fairness is probably the clever thing to do with his career at the moment but its frustrating because we obviously want to see Gavin get along.

I just hope you get a shot at the prestigous Lonsdale Frankie instead of having to go around it to get to world level.

Ashley Theophane told a friend of mine the same thing that he was invited to Frank Warren's office and thought he would be asked to defend against Frankie Gavin, but on arriving there he was asked to vacate the title for insentives, they wanted him to vacate it so Gavin could fight for the vacant title. Theophane has bigger fish to fry in America at Welter where he has a very high ranking and where all his biggest wins have been, so I don't think he will hold on to it for long, he was offered a world title eliminator the other week in America, at short notice, but declined because he did not have enough time to get fit.

I can't understand why Warren would not want the Theophane fight, Frankie Gavin would be a real hand full for theophane and I would have thought Gavin would have everything in his favour for that fight, Skill, speed, home show, own promoter and better punching power of the two. As far as Mutley goes this could be an easy fight, Mutley has not fought for a long time, in fact early 2010 were he was very lucky to get the result against Patrick Bogere, not a good last performance to have on your books for such tough ask against Gavin, I think Gavin should stop him, when depends on Mutleys frame of mind and conditioning, Mutley has never had the best chin, but has punchers chance

All but 1 of his wins are by stoppage, maybe not the biggest puncher but he punches hard enough!

Gavin should of gone with Matchroom or over to Goldenboy.

His career is going nowhere under Warren.

Bad business move resigning with him imho.

    Yeah something should come up.

Has the lack of activity from the am's to the pro's annoyed you Frankie? Or have you learnt to deal with having a big break inbetween fights?

mutleys been shot for years not really surprised that hes given the go ahead for this, frankie gavin is 26 years old and is claiming to be a better fighter then khan he only has 9 fights you'd expect with all the talk surrounding him they'd have pushed him a little more

It don't matter about the politics of boxing, if you are good enough eventually you will get the shot, it's not Frankies Gavins fault, whatever was said, is he good enough to win it, yes he is.
