I believe the general feeling is that alliance is losing the war on both fronts. (promotion of boxing, and broadcasting)

Showtime and GBP are killing.

Of course, both HBO Sports and Top Rank are longtime powerhouses with deeply entrenched brand visibility. It will take a lot to KO either - years and years of attrition.

Not going to happen whilst Top Rank keep signing up profitable young talent and expanding. Lets not forget they have a large share in Ryota Murata, that guy is going to be gold.

 

just because they put on a good show in the ppv doesn't mean it makes great financial sense. its a main event that is now a undercard fight. why waste that? they coulda gotten more out of both events being main events. hardcores woulda bought the fight irregardless of matty/garcia. casuals dont even know or even care.


arum has to be laughing at gbp's business sense. as a fan they put on better matchups but being around the game long enough, top rank is laughing at gbp's naivete.

look up strikeforce vs ufc. for a couple years sf was putting up vastly better shows.

 

I doubt it. However, Debouf would be smart to try to extend an olive branch to GBP once he takes over.

I'll be very upset about that. I enjoy Top Rank Events. They are lively, social media integrated, interactive, easily accessible and on HBO. Either way -- it won't happen for a long time if Todd D. takes over after Arum gives it up.
