Can getting hit in the arms take away a lot of power from your punches?

Clottey's arms took a lot of hits last night. I know, you don't score points by hitting your oppoent's arms because he's blocking your punches, but does it still hurt to get hit by those punches in the arms that it might affect your punching?

  2. Of course it can affect your punching. You ever been hit hard in the shoulder?

Marciano used to target the arms to get his opponents to drop their guard.

I was telling some friends of mine during the fight that Clottey's arms, elbows and wrist has got to be hurting w/ all the punches that MP threw. Yes, I believe it had an effect on Clottey. I think his arm was so weary that he couldn't increase his punch output even if he wanted to.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Manny was really planting his feet and launching serious shots with some bad intent. Taking are large bulk of the 1,200 punches on his arms surely must have weakened/tired them out.

If in the middle rounds Clottey did what many scream at him to do (increase his output), then he would have been way too tired to keep his gaurd nice and strong when it came to the latter part of the fight. He would have put himself in a position where Pac would have been drilling his shots at a higher success rate, and maybe risk a stoppage
