In fact? :huh You lost me there. I don't understand such pathetic posts about what one boxer would do to another without backing up their statements. And presenting own dreams as facts. I want this fight GG - GGG as well, hope it happens some day.
It's cause the guy is a rabid Geale fan who's been hurt by people giving Geale zero chnce vs GGG, so became a hater way back before GGG gained all this attention. He's been pushing this GGG ducked Tommy for a long time, but always goes shy when link requested.
So Abraham was way more accomplished than Groves before this fight, as was Stieglitz, nevermind Froch. Groves sounds like a no hoper against this crew The Kovalev sparring business came from Abel Sanchez. rumor is, Kovalev got dropped twice in sparring. Maybe not true, but Kovalev didn't deny anything, and sounds awestruck by GGG in interviews
GG -GGG actually really works. IMO has the potential for a great fight as well as providing the winner superb build-up to a subsequent Froch fight. Both are looking for a high profile fight, GGG to pave the way at 168 and Groves to prove he is the real deal (if he can't get an immediate Froch rematch). I still think that GGGs team would prefer to take care of business at 160 first, but if Groves is free....f#kk yeah... I can't see how any boxing fan wouldn't want to see it and it should be real easy to make (I'm assuming at SMW).
Yeah, and he stopped Bute didnt he? in the Ams, this is the Pros, Peter Manfredo beat Carl Froch in the Ams
James Degale beat Darren Sutherland (RIP) in the Olympics, I'd have picked Sutherland to soundly beat in the pros again, much worse than Groves did
Ah....actually now you mention it I think I did check his post record sometime in the past and came to a similar conclusion (after page after page of hate filled randomness) - but I'd forgotten it was the same guy...cheers:good
Nah Kov is a bit coy about it. On his site (kovalboxer.ru - some is in Russian so you may need a translator prog) there's a couple of interviews where it's mentioned and he comes accross less than impressed at being asked, but does answer. Kovalev acknowledges having to take a knee after a bodyshot and says GGG hits like a mule, (also says he's a really good guy - a sentiment which seems to be shared by a lot of fighters who've trained with him) but says it was kinda 50/50 overall in sparring. Some good biographical stuff on that site BTW - worth a look for anyone who has an interest in Sergei. Curiously, although spilling that about Kovalev - GGG sparring, since Kovalev has come into the limelight Abel's also on record saying Kov stops both BHop and Stevenson - 'I had him in my gym' he says, possibly more proudly than warranted given that Kovalevs breakout happened only after he left the Summit.
styles make fights. Groves has a great jab, lots of speed, and plenty of power. the jab didn't work for Carl here. Golovkin isn't fast, doesn't even have a good jab, let alone a great one, but has plenty of power. Carl's jab very much would be successful here. Froch beats GGG down and stops him late. we'll see if the fight has any chance of being made after last night. Groves may get his rematch before any Golovkin fight happens. with all the abuse that Carl is getting, i'd be very surprised if he doesn't take the rematch. Carl is very proud and won't want his image to be tarnished.
