Despite the defeat to Montiel, i still think Hasegawa is a top boxer. He, like many japanesse boxers have excellent technique, his faints and head movement is impressive as is his southpaw jab and he has scary one punch ko power albeit at super bantam. The decision to move up 2 divisions wasn't taking lightly i think, i think he was really struggling to make weight. Credit to him for choosing the unbeaten Burgos as his 1st fight at FW, very tough fight though i think he will win. I think he will challenge guys like Lopez and Gamboa, but i wanna see 1st if he has carried his speed and punch up with him.

He should have been already. He stayed at 118 way the hell too long, although I don't think weight was an issue at all against Montiel.

I'm not hopeful given he couldn't handle Montiel's dig. Who's a good, precise, sharp puncher, but at bantam. Against the likes of Lopez and Gamboa? No chance I'm afraid.

  4. Hasegawa's jaw is more fragile than Amir's.

Ya i agree with u and i'd give Montiel the credit he deserves, though i did think Hasegawa got a bit reckless, its not as if he was been outclassed, he had won every round i think up to the stoppage and Montiel is obviously world class. I think Hasegawa would be tough for anybody at FW.

I doubt it against beasts like Juanma and Gamboa. He shoild try to get a fight with Marquez, Salido or John.

Im still not sold on Gamboa, unbelievable hand speed but kinda shitty defence and his overall ring craft is a bit bad.

Im not sold either but he would beat Hozumi purely on his physical attributes. Gamboa - Marquez would be interrsting.

That would be a good fight alrite. Gamboa would probably overwhelm Marquez on sheer volume more than anything. If Nishioka moved up then it would be really intersting though considering his age i think he will stay where he is, he seems content making defences of his WBC title and its a nice earner for him.

He was beating Montiel up until he got knocked out but his defence isn't tight enough and he got caught. Hopefully he'll realise his mistake and tighten up his d but there are some beasts at FW.

This conversation shouldn't really even be starting until after he fights Burgos.

He's got the skills, but like IB said, probably should judge hm after the Burgos fight.
