This is a real question, as I am going back and forth on the answer.

Haye has speed and footwork, and decent enough pop. But his chin is shaky, and his defense is poor. He's good, but he doesn't have that next level slickness that he needs. I feel he would need some new training (Mayweather Sr. comes to mind), or have to fight the perfect game plan to win.

Vitali, on the other hand is getting older, and although he made Peter look like a sparring partner (and a poor one at that), Peter does not have the speed and quickness of Haye. I see him vulnerable to a smaller, quicker fighter with legs who MAY be able to offset his jab which would make him look very amatuerish. But he does Have the power to crush Haye's chin and end it right there. And let's face it, Vitali will be landing some clean power shots.

    What do you guys think?

And why do I feel that WALD would pose more stylistic problems for Haye than Vitali would, even though I believe Vitali is the better fighter??:think

Haye is a natural counter-puncher. this is clearly when he is most effective. He looks awkard and wild when he leads. Probably cause he always seems to square himself and abondon the jab so he ends up leading with power shots. He will have trouble countering Vitali who uses his size, jab and very awkard style to make his man miss.

So, Haye will end up intiating the action.

Against an excellent counter-puncher like Vitali, Haye will pay for his wild rushes. Haye must completely alter his style for this fight or he is going to get splattered. Vitali's has a tremendous counter-uppercut and chopping right hand that could disconnect Haye from his senses if it lands.

He's gotta be on the move the whole fight. That's all I know. How he plans to land effective punches is anybody's guess.

Another problem for Haye are his long periods of inactivity. He tends to flurry with powershots, retreat and recover. Vitali will not let him rest. He will pressure and a tired Haye will make a mistake. Moreover, Vit at 250lbs will be much much stronger and body Haye which will further drain energy.

Basically, the only way I can see him being effective is to move and box 60s Ali style. He just doesn't have the strength and chin to deal with Vitali inside. Haye has to hope Vitali injures himself or becomes really old overnight. Not likely considering how well the Klitschkos take care of their bodies.

    I don't envy him.

Im really struggling to see how...but I will get behind Haye and want him to win for some reason.

Im just going to avoid discussing and analysing this fight until its over.

    Hell no

Because VITLAI has an iron chin and very good stamina. Haye has a suspect chin at Cruiser and probably glass at heavy

Haye could light up VITLAI 20 times in a row, then get KTFO by one punch

And to make matters worse, the only person who has ever been able to land consistently on VITLAI is the 6'5", freakish reach of Lennox Lewis. Haye will have trouble hitting him. To get close enough to hit VITLAI, Haye will leave himself open to both leads and counters, and one good VITLAI right will put him on the canvas

I could'nt agree more. Haye is going to get destroyed. Vitali is not only bigger and stronger he's better than Haye has ever been. He's never been behind on the cards at anytime in any fight of his whole career. That's incredible.

I'd like him to win, but I dont see how. I'm pretty sure Vitali can handle his punch, not so sure Haye can handle Vitali's.

Can not picture it. It would dwarf Pacquiao over De la Hoya, IMO.

I think there is a small chance that Haye may have so much speed that he catches Vitali with a couple of consecutive shots that hurt him, but I definitely am 90% Vitali. Sanders hurt Vitali with the same shot that KO'ed Wlad, but the older Klitschko has a better chin than his brother. You never know but I give Haye a 10% chance of winning. Nobody thought Eddie Chambers would be much of a factor against Povetkin, but Eddie landed some speed shots that really hurt Povetkin. Could be the same deal here.

Absolutely...with speed and good movement, he could smack down either K bro.

Haye has "no" chance vs. Vitali. Vitali will knock him out, put him in the hospital. It is a true mismatch.

Probably not. If Vitaliy gets old overnight then he has a chance but if Vitaliy comes in 100% then its bye bye Haye:)

Excellent post, as is the one by KobeIsGod. Here's a stat to keep in mind when thinking about this fight:

    Sam Peter -- reach: 77"
    David Haye - reach: 78"

Yes, Haye is faster and taller (6'3" vs 6' 1/2"), but just recall how much of a problem it was for Peter to even land on Vitali Klitschko. It will be easier for Haye because his hands are quicker and he is punching upwards less so than Peter, but it's still going to be a real problem. Plus, if Haye becomes as aggressive as Peter tried to be he puts himself in the danger zone. Suffice to say, Haye does not have Sam Peter's chin.

Similarly, if Haye is anywhere near as aggressive as Lewis was against Vitali, he will be stopped within 2 rounds. Another problem for Haye is he's not that light on his feet, and is even less so as he has moved up in weight, so the prospect of him sticking and moving also seems dim.

It's a real fight, so anyone can win, but I think Haye is going to need a lot of help from Father Time and Vitali's body to have much of a shot here.

Yes. But he has to stick to a game-plan (which is hardly his forte), move round Vitali, use his speed to expose Vitali's age. If he tries to fight a David Haye type of fight he will get splattered.

Precisely. David has good footwork, but not fast feet. His handspeed is overrated(He isn't even the quickest fisted guy at heavy) and his tactics are actually kinda terribly.

Haye has a lunging, brutal attack that doesn't go to the body often enough, and he will run in to Vitali's jabs and right hands all night whilst missing wildly.

To win, Haye would need to slip Vitali's jab, which isn't easy but is doable, and counter with hard right hands to the body ala Mormeck to do damage, and eventually, land the left hook upstairs.

But the reason that isn't feasible, and the reason Haye won't win is simply this: Without his damn left hand at his face, he will eat every right hand Vitali throws. David Haye is **** defensively, and it gets consistently shown in every fight he has. He gets troubled by fighters he shouldn't not because he's a bad fighter, but because his hands are too low and he's easy to hit! Mormeck tagged him with several hard rights, Vitali will do the same, and the different between Jean-Marc and the Klitschko's power will be telling.

    Vitali, KO 8.

Yes he can, so long as he trains extremely hard and excutes the right gameplan very well. Vitali hasn't fought a fit young fighter in years, it'll be interesting to see how his 38-year-old body reacts to that as well.
