This parallel might sound silly but allow me to explain. Floyd Mayweather came off with two very good victories over Carlos Baldomir and Oscar De la Hoya, but many felt both fights were boring when they did'nt have to be and that Floyd did'nt take enough chances in them despite having a shutout and a SD victory over Oscar a fight I felt Oscar only won 3 or 4 rounds in at best but Floyd was able to redeem his reputation in a sense by scoring a KO victory over Hatton a fighter coming up in weight. Now how does Wlad come into this equation?..... In Wlad last two fights he has received harsh critisizm from fans saying he did'nt take enough chances against Sultan Ibragimov and that he waited too long to go for the KO against Tony Thompson in which many felt that Thompson just gave up out of exaustion. But with David Haye making his way into the heavyweight ranks can Wlad redeem himself to the fans by fighting Haye and scoring a sensational knockout like Floyd did against Hatton?
Actually, doesnt sound silly at all. Possibly the best avatar on the site btw, besides the dude who had the Illmatic one of course.
Thanks for the avatar compliment Im hoping that posters understand where I am coming from with this thread.
I pretty much got it from the title, you explained it good enough for people to feel you as well though.
No Hatton has little to no boxing skill whereas Haye can box very well, its the main reason I like one and despise the other
Good insight. He %100 can be Wlad's Hatton. As Floyd moved up in weight he turned into a guy who wouldn't take any chances unless he had to. Hatton had the foot speed to match Floyd's and hand speed to be able to hit him. He also had the style that forced the fight. But he was small, wreckless, and kept leaping into shots. So Basically he was just asking to get knocked out. What was great about the Ricky Hatton fight for Floyd and those watching was that Hatton forced Floyd into the kind of fight that brought the best out of him. Wlad is another safety first fighter. Moreover he recieves a lot of criticism for the way he has reacted when challenged in the past (something that Floyd was never critisized for). However, he has learned a lot training with Emmanuel Steward. He is a lot calmer in the ring these days, and much more economical. He understands the game and himself much better. In otherwords he is in a great position to exercize the demons of the past. But he is still a cautious fighter and he, like floyd, needs someone to bring the best out of him. Haye has the power to put him in serious danger and the speed and timing to match his skills; moreover, he feels that Wlad was made to be knocked out by him and he knows that the longer the fight goes the more it favours Wlad. So he will really be looking to take the fight to Klitchko. The flip side of this is that Haye is there to be knocked out by anyone with the ability to hit him. He has been hurt many times in the past. Mostly because of the way he keeps his hands low and lunges into shots (throwing everything he has into them). Provided Haye doesn't get KTFO on the first punch (which could happen) Wlad will get hit and his metal will be tested. In other words he will have to prove himself a worthy champion if he is to win. And that is exactly what he needs.
Haye will get waxed in short order, and all those who have proclaimed him the divisions messiah will recant and pronounce him a bum of Ruizian proportions
Sorry didn't the nobody unify a division ????????? You need to learn some respect atsch wlad isn't even an undisputed champion as of yet and i don't think he ever will. I think he is hoping is older brother will beat peter up for him as he wants no part of a rematch for starters. :-(
Well maybe in the future but not now. Haye still is an unknown...especially at heavyweight. It's easier for a fighter from 140 to move up for a big fight at Welter because the average Joe doesn't have a clue as to the majority of weight classes below Welter. Haye would have to spark some major interest with some great KOs before facing Wlad for it to have a "Hatton" style impact on Wlad.
Vlad is fighting all the best heavyweights in the world today. If Hayes wants a shot at his titles, he should beat someone ranked in the heavyweight division. Fights are not won by diarrhea of the mouth.
I defitnately see one other parallel in that Haye has had 1 fight at HW and moved back down to CW just like Hatton had 1 fight at 147 then decided to move back to 140 and then come back up.
It's a good insight but a point I'd like to add, both stepped/ are stepping up in weight as you say and both had stepped up once previous, howerver with contrasting performances. Hatton struggled against Collazo, some though he lost, while Haye blitz Bonin in a round. As said previously aswell Haye is a better technical boxer than Hatton, and also Wlad is a more vulnerable champion than Mayweather certainly.
I agree with everything you said but in all fairness to Hatton who's better Bonin or Collazo? the answer would have to be Collazo, and I can't stand Collazo.
