Chagaev got his ass beat in that fight, to get what I think was a draw. Valuev was pounding Chagaev's predictable head multiple times before Chagaev "turned it on" late in the fight and snuck out what should have been a draw. Haye got tagged how many times? And on top of that almost knocked him out. And if you had any idea of what he was trying to accomplish, it was obviously a test of if his stamina would hold up against a guy if he wasn't able to knock him out.
:roflatsch If any fight could/should have been a Draw it was Valuev/Haye. I couldn't even score the fight there were so few punches thrown and landed. It was awful.
How many punches did Valuev land? 5 maybe? Not one of them were sigificant. Meanwhile, almost every single one of Haye's punches had bad intentions. So how could you not score the fight to Haye, despite the lack of punches thrown? He didn't throw very many punches against Audley either.... How did that fight go? Are you suggesting that Wlad's jaw is as good as Valuev's?
Nah i personally see Haye winning just his speed and power, but you nenver know all it takes is 1 punch. G
I seriously do believe that Haye wouldn't walk from the ring after Brewster. Was Lamon something very, very special? No; Haye is just so incomplete package. The Russian Roulette that his been playing with his amateurish defense can catch him against any good puncher in any given round. Then there is his stamina which is horrible. Against Valuev he wowed the boxing world with 12 punches/round and his 'trainer' warned him of gassing out(!). In that fight he was about to need an oxygen mask during walk-in. Many like to believe that he's a Tyson-like finisher what he obviously isn't in heavyweights. Barret was down twice in second, twice in fourth and still Haye managed to get on his ass in fifth. Ruiz was down twice in first, once in fifth and sixth but Haye couldn't stop him with a knockout. He stopped Bonin in the first after two knockdowns. That was nice but more like an anomaly than a rule in his record. (Did he advice his friends and family to bet money on majority decision against Valuev or ninth round stoppage against Ruiz?) His chin is bad and he admits it so that's not even worth of debate. Sure Haye has improved after Mock disaster but not even nearly enough to get this invincibility-aura that his die hard fans are creating around him. So bottom line; his defense is based solely on his reflexes which are not so good anymore if they ever even were. He gases out fast and his belief that he can finish every opponent with that blind striking in few rounds doesn't help the issue. His power is vastly overrated and he can't take a good punch neither mentally or physically. Maybe not as amazing as Jean Mormeck, Carl Thompson or Lolenga Mock but he surely was dangerous for a 'fat golfer'. But back to my original question; who has Haye faced that was more dangerous than prime Brewster? Who is the nearest heavyweight champion from the past that you see Haye losing? -> Let's take Lennox off the table because he was representing Great Britain and that confuses almost every Hay Boy's mind to worse state than they already are. Keep on living in that cotton candy land where he destroys Wladimir and Vitali. That's the only place we'll ever see him against either one.
Perhaps both. But surely even you waited more from Haye when he started his hw-campaign with wild talks and big promises? If Haye gets in the ring against a Klitschko it'll be his biggest achievement to date and I'll change my opinion on him as a person no matter how he performs in the actual fight. That's how low I see him at the moment.
Your right, David Haye is the biggest bum in all of boxing, thats why he cleared up the Cruiserweight division before becoming WBA Heavyweight Champ. Well played Brains :thumbsup
The Wladimir fight will happen. Haye will retire before his 31st birthday and a Vitali fight won't happen.
Key to beating the Klitchko's are distance and combination punching. This stand on the outside throwing one punch at a time bull****, or the "trying to establish" my jab stuff, is going to get your ass beat. A potential contender is going to have to get into mid range (inside the K2 jab, but not so close as to be tied up) and throw combinations. Obviously this is easier said than done, but if Haye could actually use footwork and upper body movement to get to a comfortable distance and throw punches in combinations he could have some success, but I don't know that he can/will do this hence I believe either brother beat him senseless.
