Well, if Holyfield wins, that's likely what would happen. And this is a winable fight for him. I am not at all impressed with Povetkin. Don't get me wrong, I think you are right, I think he will win a close, uninteresting decision in which Holyfield is competitive in most rounds. But Holyfield COULD win this. Not likely, but he could. I, for one, would love it.
:good He also beat Ruiz. It was the shoulder injury in the Byrd fight that finally took Evander out of the picture.
As unimpressive Povetkin looked to me yesterday, he's one of the top of the division, and that's saying something about the state of the division today. So, no, Holyfield can't beat Povetkin.
Povetkin may be just bad enough for Holyfield to eek out a win. This soft and pudgy Povetkin is so terribly conditioned that an HGH infused 49 year old Holyfield might just have a chance.
He "could" beat Potvetkin, but being the WBA is controlled by Sauerland, I doubt he'd get he nod, even if he outlanded him by 100 shots, and KD'd him a couple times.:rofl That said, the most likely outcome would be a close, but unanimous decision for Potvetkin. Holy just don't have the reaction timing to be competitive with a Bclass or higher fighter. Evander should go after Maddalone or Rob Calloway, or any other fighter who he can KO with rather ease. Harrison would be a decent payday for the Real Deal these days.
maybe...i mean povetkin isnt a fast mover like iggy was and isnt 7 foot tall like valuev was he will be there to be hit, but does holyfield have what it takes anymore i mean botha williams and nielsen all gave him trouble though he prevailed in 2 by stoppage the real question is do you count this as his 5th world title i certainly dont i dont recognize regulars interims silvers or any a that crap
No, in fact I didn't so there is certainly the benefit of the doubt. But I have seen Holyfield or this version of Evander rise up to the occasion after being completely written off, after Donald, after Byrd, after Toney, but he still produces that last effort to travel the distance and compete like against Valuev. Sherman Williams certainly seems to be the type of sub-par that having lost to, gives Evander no chance against Povetkin. However, he went to bring new inspiration against Nielsen so you can't really write him off.
