If (and this is a big if) Hopkins can get a result against Pavlik, how will this affect Joe Calzaghe's stock with the U.S audiences?

Will he be a man vindicated for his comments on Pavlik and his close decision against Bernard?

Style makes fights. If Bhop beats Kelly it doesn't mean nothing for calzaghe. Especially Joe got outboxed by bhop too. The only reason Joe won was bc he throw more punches.

Calzaghe's style is easier for Hopkins than for Pavlik's. Pavlik's style is easier for Calzaghe than Hopkins.

Basically Pavlik really needs to beat Hopkins, impressively, to show that he could beat Calzaghe

Also. Would Pavlik still be considered a viable oponent for Calzaghe? As I remember, Taylor was touted for a possible match up with Joe until he was beaten by Pavlik.

I appreciate that it isn't Calzaghe beating kelly but the point I am trying to illustrate is that if hopkins can pull this off, then Calzaghe's mediochre performance against Hopkins would (from certain stand points) look a lot better than it does at present.
I also appreciate that a lot of you have allegiance to certain fighters and it appears that yours is Pavlik but try to look at this as an outsider looking in rather than with your bias.
Calzaghe will be the man that beat then man and in my experience this has propelled a lot of previous fighters to stardom, including Pavlik himself on disposing of Taylor, who in turn beat Hopkins in the first place.

Of course it would, or should. But if Hopkins wins everyone will come out of the wordwork screaming about how Pavlik was a hype-job all along. It's a no-win situation for Calzaghe.

P4P Boxing on youtube also think that Hopkins will beat Pavliks ass at 170lbs.
I think Pavlik wins this by UD and not even close.

No, should Hopkins beat Pavlik it will have no standing on Calzaghe's reputation, IMO.

And? Joe didn't 'outbox' Kessler either. Most clips from the Kessler fight show Kessler hitting Joe with blistering uppercuts, hooks etc. The thing is that Joe's output is so phenomenal. Kessler knew this and got frustrated by it. And in real terms that fight was much closer than the Hopkins fight. Hopkins landed about one meaningful punch the entire fight whereas Kessler landed plenty, but in the end still got outlanded.

    On the contrary.

    Right now the status is:
Joe > Hopkins, but where does Pavlik fit in?

IF Pavlik can beat opkins, like Joe, then Joe needs to fight Pavlik to see who is better.

IF Hopkins hoever beats Pavlik, then we know that Joe beat the man who beat Pavlik. Therefore there is no reason to think Joe wouldn'tbeat Pavlik too.
