Do I think Moore was better at 40 than he was at 30/32 no, neither he Walcott or Charles,in fact it can be reasonably argued that the Walcott that gave Louis so many problems might have beaten Marciano, ditto a younger fresher Charles.

Nope, he wasn't destroyed ,he lost a decision to 10 fight Sylvester "Sonny" Jones and 7 months later knocked him out in the rematch.

What is Liston doing on that list?
Cleveland Williams, Zora Folley and Patterson the Cruiserweight x 2 makes Liston Top 10?!
Maybe in terms of ability, but not Greatness.

I read somewhere that 27-0 Cleveland Williams was decked twice by 7-3 Jones and the bout was cut in rounds during the fight so as to prevent a late stoppage loss further ruining the prospects record than a points loss might. Floored twice in a preliminary bout on a major fight card certainly demolished Williams status as the next big thing in Boxing..and not for the last time. The poor youngster was obviously not ready for that showcase ...even after 27 fights.

Well, Dempsey is McVey's token white boy. As they say, there's always one. Ironically he'll blast accomplished white heavies who he has a documented antipathy towards, but never start a thread about Dempsey ducking Wills, or fighting African American opponents in general.

He thinks Marciano wasn't a big puncher, among other things...

What 40 year old did Rocky fight?

Rocky fought Walcott right when Walcott had his most impressive win.

Rocky fought Moore right when Moore was the ring sensation that recently beat a middleweight champion, two Light heavy champions and the #1 and #2 heavyweight contenders in back to back fights!!

He is on my list because head to head I think he beats a hell of a lot of heavyweights including Marciano, and Frazier. It'
Moore's mother said he was two years older than he claimed.
Moore said his legs were gone for the Marciano fight and had been for some time and that once Marciano wore him down so that he was in a position to hit him it was just a matter of time. But I expect Moore was lying right?

Moore may very well have been lying.

But it doesn't matter because likely his legs were gone.

Moore had a tremendously long and tough career behind his back, suffered KO losses before. Knocked down so often.
He just couldn't have been anywhere near prime.

No, as usual you're wrong, my illiterate racist friend. My statement was that Marciano was not usually a one punch kayo artist ,but that he was a grinder who gradually beat all the resistance out of his opponents which is precisely why he ruined so many guys. Getting taken out with one quick shot does not do the damage a sustained beating such as those Marciano inflicted on Lastarza,Layne ,Charles ,C*ckell, and Moore, in fact of all Marciano's challengers ,only Moore was ever any good afterwards,.As I am white myself, something anyone looking at my avatar would notice, why would I be prejudiced against my own colour ?Please explain this to me you total moron?lol
My favourite fighter is Dempsey because I like the way he fights just as I like, and for the same reason Duran,Arguello,Walker, etc when it comes to boxers or indeed any other subject, I am colour- blind, unlike yourself who is a well documented racist buffoon.
Now could you manage to get back to the thread, or will you continue to make asinine comments that only illustrate your painfully limited intellect?

Walcott was clearly better after his brief hiatus in 1940. Despite being at an advanced age. Imo

That is heresy to Marciano fans, all his opponents were prime.

I wouldn't rank Sonny that highly now, either. I think there's a great argument for him being behind Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, Lennox, Holyfield, and Wlad, and those are 7 names that only came on after Sonny was champ.

I think Sonny slides in the 11-20 range better. As mentioned in other posts on this thread, though, there are a number more of Heavyweights qualified for a top 10 slot than there are top 10 slots available. So, it's not the craziest thing to see Liston on a top 10 list...just not over a guy like Frazier IMO.
