I hate ranking the MW's - let's see your list. I will probably ask you questions about it.

    Thanks McVey, some questions.

1 - What about Flowers? Robbed against Walker he also twice beat the past-peak Greb that was able to defeat Mickey? Don't you think he should at least make your bench?

2 - NP Jack Dempsey - To small or to long ago or just not good enough for this list?

3 - Is that ROY Jones? Scores high head to head, I take it, despite huge inexperience and a derth of defences?

4 - Hopkins beneath LaMotta is a sell for me - especially as you are grading great champions...

    Thanks.

I somehow think Flowers is overated,I could of course be wrong.

I must put Jones above Hopkins as I think he was better.
Where we place the likes of Darcy,M Gibbons,NP Dempsey ,I don't really know.Luis Rodriguez has a better 160 record than Hopkins for me,Griffith ,Giardello, all make the 15 ,as you said its a tough division to rank.

The things I dislike about your list are the high ranking of Jones, the low ranking of Hopkins, the non-ranking of Flowers.

What do you do with Fitz?

I'm just interested to see others. I hate ranking MW's aswell and couldn't possibly make an accurate list, so many great fighters - Monzon, Hopkins, SRR, Greb, Hagler, Zale, Ketchel, Walker, Williams, Flowers, Tiger, Ryan, Burley, Fitzsimmons, Papke, LaMotta, Cerdan, Marshall, I mean how can you possibly rank these guys one above the other?

it really is hard i think the top 5 IMO are easy but the rest is hard i think there should be a joint 5th place with like 30 guys

If Jones is even going to be a consideration, shouldn't Ezzard Charles be somewhere around here? He beat Burley (twice), Yarosz, and Jose Basora among others at 160.

Would Basilio be better rated at Welterweight or Middleweight?

    1. Hagler
    2. Monzon
    3. Robinson
    4. Hopkins

Just on MW fights that. Not taking into account anything afterwards, like B-Hop's success at LHW. Not putting Greb in my list in terms of the little I have read, clearly an awesome fighter, but only knowing superlatives of his supposed best wins, I haven't done enough research into his opponents.

Find it hard to find the rest. These are clearly the best for me, mix of resume and H2H.

My top four. I haven't thought about where the others rank.

    Hagler
    Monzon
    Robinson
    Greb

Roy Jones Junior is probably five, but because he didn't hang around at middleweight it's hard to assess. Then again, Greb was much like Jones in this regard, both fighting just as often at light heavyweight. Jones could have ruled the middleweights for years.

Hopkins is maybe six. Despite his setback against Jones, his record is phenomenal.

I see Tony Zale on some lists. While I love to watch Zale, and I note how he tossed the hook with perfection, I am not sure how well he would do against the names we're throwing up there.

Walker is obviously up there, but well below Greb. I have read that he was on the receiving end of a favor in his fight with Flowers.

What to do about Ketchel. He was a ferocious puncher and a legend. How would he have done against some of the others we are mentioning?

There are some real scrappers that we have to consider. Fullmer was one tough SOB. Then there's those who, with more motivation, would be no brainers. I'm thinking of Griffith types here. And what about those contenders during talent-rich periods.

Sorry for not being more definite.
